I actually DO think he's an elite talent despite the underwhelming season. I just see red flags with him choosing to not play these past couple of seasons when he could have. I don't even mind the league he chose, it's his willingness to blow it off that alarms me. I want kids that want to compete. You don't see Wembanyama sitting out and he truly is generational. Also, the twins are elite prospects in their own right so like last season, with that top three that could have gone any way, why wouldn't it be wide open for the #2 this draft when there's similarly no talent gap?
Scoot might not be an elite leaper but he still has great hops. What makes him special imo is his fast twitch burst like Rose. He is really quick with starts, stops and great body control. Now, lots of guys are like this but not while also dribbling a basketball which is what separates him from most. That's not to say he'll be Rose but imo he's as close to that as we've seen since and Rose was among the best in the game. An MVP at 22 y/o. One thing I think he has over Rose though is defense or at least the potential to be a plus defender.
as far as production, I'm chalking that up to indifference. He was going through the motions just doing the minimum to ensure he's a top prospect but not to stress out about it or risk injury. With spacing in the NBA he'll put up ridiculous numbers and might even be in the ROTY discussion despite having to compete with Wembanyama
