But like I alluded to above, the entire report thing is flawed because it’s agenda driven. 99% of the posters here not named Hal won’t ever report anything, and just let things run it’s course.

But me getting warned for replying to me being told that I’m “embarrassing myself” or that I changed my name to hide from my horrible takes? Nah, that’s not what the report button was made for.

This is why we had to take away a certain posters ability to report in the past, because he was only reporting attacks from posters he didn’t like.

I get what you're saying. I'll do a better job of looking back over the thread to see who said what before giving future warnings etc.

That said, even if the other guy started it there is a "no personal attacks" rule on RGM. Using the report button would be preferable to ratcheting up a fight.

For me as a mod, my goal isn't really to discipline people and get them "in trouble." It's more to diffuse situations and help them avoid discipline. So it would be great if that could happen here and we all moved on.

I agree with most of this but what I kind of find troubling is that modding is seemingly done on a report basis only. It’s kind of shocking to know that mods don’t necessarily read threads that they are supposed to be moderating

Great point homer….which can lead potentially sometimes to just looking at the username and not the actual substance of the conversation as a whole and occasionally policing the wrong person making a hard thankless job even harder

This thread makes me more than a little sad. It's like a trainwreck I can't avoid watching.

As far as bisme's performance as a mod is concerned, I've opened a ticket to have his April salary withheld. Also making calls to have Feed Your Head's last salary clawed back.

Like Jaylen driving into multiple defenders.

And without that money, how are bisme and I supposed to feed our cats, or our heads?

That sounds a lot like Latrell Sprewell's "feed my family" comment.

Nah, you're crazy - shocked that mods don't read all this drivel, lol. C'mon. :D

Mods are those few posters who are in that tiny Venn overlap where they like the site enough to care, but basically aren't smart enough to get out of jury duty... I've been retired for years now, but nobody else wants to step up and replace me and help me get that sweet, sweet word on my badge.

You both know all this, lol. It's impossible to read the entire forum, much less catch things at the speed they unfold. Leave poor bisme alone. :)

It wasn’t meant to be directed solely at bisme, just the state of modding in general. Nobody is saying that people need to sit there and continuously monitor each thread but it’s still stunning to me that action is only taken if a report is filed and then threads aren’t read based off that report?

I know, just trying to have some fun. Tis what it is. It's not solely based on reports, mods read the threads as time allows like anyone else. But people have threads they don't - I don't do game threads, b doesn't do this one apparently. Others will, or reports will (sometimes...) draw attention. And sure there's always room for improvement, etc, wasn't debating that part.

You really just got me with "shocked":

OK, RealGM Campers,

Let's all just keep doing our best, and keep this Forum as one of the Best on the Internet.

Also, This is the Jaylen Brown Thread.
Let's at least try to keep the Posts, on the Subject Matter of this thread.

Thank You, Everybody.

Haha I personally just think the idea of “reporting “ someone in general on an Internet forum is pathetic and pretty lame- let alone if it’s the same person over and over and over again. Just bizarre stuff.

That said there’s no place for homophobia, sexism, racism or anything that’s overtly offensive which is why the things that do get blue text sometimes is funny compared to what can be glanced over at others. It’s a job that people volunteer to do and doesn’t get any praise and necessary so I get it.

But If I ever in my life hit the report button just neuter me

Let’s bring it back to Jaylen, let’s hope he can keep moving the ball like he has, and maybe get that TS up to 59%, which was my prediction heading into the season.

59% is 0.9 percentage points above league average. If Jaylen Brown wasn't a sociopath who has zero regard for team success he would not be taking 20 shots a game. Despite TS% of .585 Jaylen is literally in the top 5 for shot attempts per game. There is no one in the top 5 who is as inefficient as he is. The closest is Tatum with .607 TS%. In the top 10 only Ja Morant is worse.

FYI we had 12 open reports in this thread from just today. And most of the posts in question truly were violations of RGM policy.

It seems like everyone has settled down now and I appreciate that. No further issues that I'm aware of and the catastrophe has been averted I think lol. (Would be super cool if we kept it that way!)

But I just went through and wrote blue font "warnings" on a bunch of comments, which is probably annoying to some. But please understand that was mainly so I could close the reports and people will see the blue font and know it's been dealt with. I closed some reports earlier and then new people came into the thread and reported the same comments because it didn't look like we'd done anything. Thx.
