Doc and Trez would have made us lose in the second round even if there was no bubble.
Clippers were coming into their own before the lockdown. We were 44-20 (25-6 H, 19-14 A. They had went 20-9 (9-5 A) since the start of 2020 and had won and 7 of their last 8. The lock down allowed teams to reset and allowed players to get in physical training that they wouldn't have been able to do otherwise (e.g. LeBron, Jokic). The lockdown also had roster impacts because of the way players were dealing with the situation personally.
In the last month or so leading up to the hiatus, we had lost a frustrating statement game to the Lakers, made Malik Beasley and Shake Milton look like prime Steph, got blown out twice by the Kings, etc. The red flags were glaring even if the record looked good on paper. Besides, we could have gone 82-0 and it wouldn't have mattered once Doc got the bright idea to put Trez on Jokic all series.
That team never looked right to me all season, kind of like a less extreme version of this year's team. I had already been calling a first/second round exit for months before COVID, even correctly predicting that it would be Doc's fault for overplaying his favorites and making no adjustments. Easiest call in the world.
