I love this stories on "undrafted player signed >25M year contract".

Reaves passes the eye test. He has great body and ball control and is very skilled.

I need more volume from 3. I don’t think he is going to add the floor spacing we need.

No.. it didn't say he signed for it. It says they are willing to go up to that high. Which, as other teams have posted numbers near/similar to that... means that is where negotiations start.

Is he worth it? IMO no way!!! Then again, we have FVV supposedly demanding 130m, GTJ 100+m so who knows really.

I am so impressed with Reaves. I really hope Orlando has a chance in signing him. He could be the answer for us

Gary Harris is currently the starting SG and this is a weak FA class.. Reaves will be in play.

Limited body of work is definitely something you have to acknowledge - but sometimes you have to risk it.

I'm sure he will have plenty of offers. The question will be, why should he choose Orlando

I can’t tell if he’ll go on to be Tyler Herro or Duncan Robinson. He’s peaked just in time for his contract though so good for him.

We need to know his work ethic. Is it just "contract-year" performance or does this kid do the work?

To me, the difference between guys like Duncan Robinson and say.... JJ Redick is that one listens to coaches, does his work, always be ready and became a starting SG to the showtime/lob city Clips while the other is thought of as an anchor dragging a team down with his contract/performance ratio.

I don’t think it’s to do with work ethic. Duncan Robinson doesn’t seem like the mail-it-in type. He’s just one dimensional and when his shot wasn’t falling he offered little else. He was paid a premium because his shot had been falling in Miami’s finals run.

Reaves already shows more variety in his game. He can get to the FT line and isn’t a sieve on defense.

Personally I’d prefer to keep Harris but increase Suggs’ role. I’d like to commit to internal development one more season.

Remember that JJ had a very bad player profile aka 6'3 barefoot, short arms and average athleticism... yet he worked his butt off and his motor to be able to run all game long evennif his shot was off.

Duncqn is at least 6'6 in the SG role.

So yeah... i wanna see Reaves transformation from his rookie year up to now. Did he lose weight, muscles? Had better stamina? Every year?

If so.. then yeah i would say this guy is.improving every year. Kinda like Jimmy.

Should Magic go all in on Austin Reaves? Dude is amazing in the Playoff and he could be a perfect complementary piece next to Franz and Paolo.

Also should we let Gary Harris walk? Dude has 14M in salary next season and is he better than Austin Reaves? I don't think so

I just don't see it with Reaves. I see mediocre all around player that plays with 3 allstars, two of them being top 10 players ( one in conversation for best ever, other is one of best defenders in past 15 years) and gets incredible amount of BS calls in his favor.

I really don't think he is any better player than some Bogdan Bogdanovic or Huerter or Monk or Norman Powell.

I think that he will cost a lot and after he gets not- Lakers officiating and is on no- Lebron -Davis team, you will ask yourself "why are we burning money on average bench player ?"

Yes ,he shoots 40% for 3. But look at splits.
148 out of 216 threes he took were wide open. Additional 56 were open. So he had clean looks on 204/216 threes.

This is Lebron/Davis now Russell effect. Nobody is going out of his way to prevent Austin Reaves from scoring, he is every game guarded by worst defender other team has to offer.

1000% agree. Thats not to say Reaves isn’t or can't be a very good player, but the circumstances for evaluating whether he deserves giant money are so skewed by him playing with Greats that the risk is prohibitive.
