If the Celtics missed and Philly got the rebound then you foul and at worst Philly goes up by 3. You would have 5-7 seconds to shoot a 3 and tie the game.
This is common sense. Coaching 101.

Sixers were extremely lucky in this one
Tatum played with maturity and poise even when nothing went his way in the beginning
Team played well, but just didn't have enough luck the whole way, with sixers hitting timely threes and Celtics players missing open shots and not gaining momentum
wish we could have pressured the ball from the start
Huge mistake by Mazzula at the last possession of the game
It was clear Philly runs a p&r between Harden and Embiid, so having the help coming from the strong side was a HUGE mistake
Hate losing, but Celtics played hard and the right way
On to the next!
We likely won't ever know for sure (Joe's not gonna go out in a presser and start throwing Jaylen under the bus) but I think Horford was the help on that play and Jaylen decided to freelance so he can be the hero.

None of that matters. The series is 2-2. Oh, and the Celtics won't stop making mistakes in crunch time. That's just who they are.

I’ve said he should called a TO like four times lmao.
He should’ve called a timeout at the end of the 4th. This game even going to overtime is on Joe

I can pull out 3 this game alone.
Tatum get trashed on this forum for forcing tough shots at the end of games early in his career. Now he gets flamed for making the correct play and passing to the open shooter who....hit the shot btw.
The dumb move was running the clock down but Tatum absolutely made the correct play.
The correct play isn't Smart shooting a 30 foot hero dagger.
ballup wrote:It made no sense to have Tatum guard Embiid on that last shot. Embiid was having so much trouble against Horford. Tatum wasn't getting help by the time Embiid got close enough to put up a shot. There was no commitment to a double. Jaylen screws up by doubling on the strong side. Maybe Horford has this sixth sense to help at the very last moment, but it really did seem like Embiid needed to see a double when he was that deep. Even if Horford was in the same situation as Tatum where he gives up the same ground, Tatum is more equipped to provide help from the weakside and be able to contest the Tucker corner 3.
It made sense to switch up the defensive assignments when throughout the game, but this is the last couple of possessions. You need Horford on Embiid.

We didn't need a coach to learn these things along the way.

Exactly. Now is not the best time to be "learning" these type of things as a coach. Oh God, we're doomed aren't we?
