Even if he was a Founder's Stout, I don't think you could keep any of the players from 2021 if you hired Monty.

It just feels to me like Nurse has his eyes elsewhere. I'd be cool with him or Lue, and am not averse to assistants like most on this board seem to be. That's where most of the innovation comes from in this league.

I'll give whoever the hire is a chance but I'd definitely be skeptical about most/maybe all of the names that we've been officially linked to so far.
I think Borrego did a pretty decent job in Charlotte all things considered. Their offense during his time there was pretty beautiful to watch; if I remember right they led the league in assists or were close to it with he and LaMelo steering the ship. He's not the guy I'm hoping for, but I'd support hiring him more than Brooks, promoting Lee, or hiring Monty probably.
Brooks had a couple decent seasons in Washington as well (and obviously was successful in OKC but he had a bevy of talent there) but he's never really done it for me personally. Not really looking to promote Bud's assistant but that kind of move has definitely worked for teams in the past and we don't really have a track record to go off with Lee, so who knows there?
Kinda similar to Brooks, Monty obviously had a lot of success in Phoenix. It's easy to point to their mid-range heavy offense and think that's not the direction we want to go in, but it's also the personnel they had in place so it's sort of a chicken and egg situation. His complaints about officiating definitely rubbed me the wrong way and I don't really like the way Phoenix plays in general, but again, their playstyle definitely fit the personnel they had and that's generally a good thing.

Has anything been mentioned with Nurse and the Bucks at all? I don’t think so but maybe I missed something. The fact that we’ve heard nothing about him but he’s immediately mentioned as one of the Suns’ top candidates is kinda lame. Definitely seems like that isn’t happening.

I think it's certainly possible that we are talking to Nurse and/or other coaches that haven't been listed. But many on this board seem to feel like that is a certainty that we are and I don't understand how anyone can be certain we are talking to any specific coach that hasn't already been named without inside knowledge
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Just in general in sports, I feel like we don't often see hires truly come out of nowhere (meaning no reported interest at any point and then all of a sudden they're hired). There's a chance that they're working their way up to him and interviewing some lesser candidates first but it's kind of an Occam's Razor thing right? Most plausible explanation is probably that we haven't heard us linked with Nurse at all because there's no link to report on at this time.
I wouldn't really understand it if there was never communication between us and Nurse but maybe he declined and we obviously didn't want to leak that. I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I would think with other high-profile jobs opening up, we'll have to show our cards soon if we haven't already been showing them.

You could be right about Nurse. Maybe for some reason we aren't interested in him. If that's true I'd be pissed. I'm fine with some of the other candidates but Nurse has to be at least be approached.
Very possible Nurse would like to team up with Kawhi again in LA. Or thinks a Durant/Booker pairing is alluring.
If we weren't interested in Nurse , then that is a travesty ! Horst job should be in jeopardy if it's not already !
Maybe Nurse isn't interested , but why would he not! I don't understand why he wouldn't and that's why I don't believe that we would not be interested. Now that the suns job is open its probably a preferred destination.
If that's the case I would look hard at Quinn from the Spoelstra coaching tree! Hopefully he can bring the same in game play and adjustments , no more random school yard crap !
Want a coach who can extend Giannis's career some by not have him run into a wall every possession !
Isnt part of that running into that wall part of the other teams disrespect of our 3 pt shooting every playoff we basically morph into the badgers shooting 3s.Wouldnt more consistent 3 pt shooting alleviate the wall
Very true ! We definitely shrunk in the playoffs with crappie 3pt shooting , and it would absolutely help Giannis if we could shoot better , but when we don't shoot well , we didn't do anything thing else . also I'd like to extend Giannis career , all this flopping is already taking a toll on him !

Agreed or maybe he knows he is the best available and trying to push the bids higher. It will be interesting to see who flinches. I’d love to be the fly on the wall to hear the GMs pitch on how they are going to fix the roster issues on the top teams. Also agree on assistants but outside of Lee I don’t know that anyone is worthy which makes Redick intriguing. I bet he gets an offer from a team, curious to see if he takes it.

Re: Head Coaching Candidatest
Personally I think between the Bucks, Suns and Clippers (if that opens up) the Bucks would be the most attractive team to coach (other than the weather). There are pros and cons to each.
George is 33 and missed 26 games plus the playoffs. He missed 51 games the year before and 26 the year before that. Kawhi turns 32 and his injury history is well documented.
KD turns 35 and since his Achilles injury 4 years ago hasn't had a healthy season. Paul will likely be shopped. Ayton too. They have no bench or picks.
Middleton is an injury concern but Giannis is still just 28. He's missed some games (some pure load management, some legit injury) but this past season he played 2 more games than our championship season.
And let's not forget this Bucks team without Middleton for the most part was the #1 overall seed.
So I think we are the best situation for any coach. We need the guy who can make the adjustments from regular season to post season.

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Re: Head Coaching Candidates
Kerr was calling games when the Ws hired him. He of course had the mystique of a guy who played for Phil and Pop. But his GM tenure was awful.
I wouldn't mind a gutsy hire. We've already incurred most of the risk by firing our championship coach.

I know Phoenix is tied to Lue, but I wonder if they look at Bud. If he wants to coach, doing it out of his hometown state would be ideal.

Fair, and I don't necessarily disagree, but has Nurse been linked to anyone other than the Suns? You'd think that any team with a vacancy would be reaching out to him (even though Phoenix and Milwaukee are the only viable landing spots right now if he wants a contender).

I'm wondering what kind of wrench it throws into our plans if Philly gets eliminated tonight and they move on from Doc. Could be another team we're fighting over for a coach.
