Ballmer will want picks for Lue. We have like zero to give. Maybe that will work to our advantage.

That would salvage this mess but it feels like a longshot now. Lue seems to be leveraging the buzz for an even fatter extension.
Nah, I'm guessing he's just struggling to get out of his contract. Every coach in the League would absolutely love to coach Giannis. Also, coaching Kawhi has to be a terrible experience.

As for me, I can agree that the delay is a bit unsettling but I like to think that with nothing leaking there's no pressure from anyone other than fans for them to be in a hurry. Let the market develop, talk to the guys you're at all interested in, and then when you are confident you have your guy you make your hire. Nobody's hired anybody yet so no one is off the board and there's no need to rush. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but "trust the process"

I wonder if he was trying to get there before the landed Wemby and signed Harden.....now he might regret it.

That was my thought. At the time, phx, mke, and philly all had COY guys and still were in it. There was a decent chance no job was available. By signing with Houston early he beat Nurse and other guys while having a 16% chance of coaching the best prospect since James. I roll that dice over say ending up with the Hornets.

Good strip clubs
and no state income tax.
i'm pretty ignorant of that whole Udoka situation so maybe this is easily disproven, but i wonder if his back channeling indicated that the contender teams were not willing to go with him because of the optics. i dont really know what he did except that it involved a woman. i can't see the Bucks signing a guy with optics issues at least until Haslem is in full control. again, not sure if he does have optics issues at this point but it's possible.

I don’t think anyone they have interviewed or have announced intentions of interviewing, is better than Bud.
I almost feel repelled when I remember that Crowder complained about not playing enough (when he played really badly) and then soon after that Bud was fired.
I had never wanted us to recruit Crowder in the first place.
Now the bucks are embarrassingly almost desperately trying to recruit a coach whom they can justify the choice of by touting how he is “better” than Bud.

MVP2110 wrote:Bud was a great coach 95% of the time. He had one major flaw. And while I personally would have kept him I can understand moving on from him if you are going to hire someone you know will fix that specific area, in this case we are talking about in game playoff adjustments. The problem is the only guy on our list you can say has proven to be able to do that is Vogel. Maybe Quinn can be Spo 2.0 but he also might completely fail at the job considering most new head coaches are bad at the job, or atleast a downgrade from what Bud brought.
Firing Bud isn't specifically the problem, but the fact that the Bucks don't seem to have a plan on how to fix the playoff issues Bud had is very discouraging and if we aren't going to fix that then I'd rather have Bud who was great at all of the other stuff
I agree. Firing Bud with the plan of interviewing everyone under the sun, is just plain ridiculous.
Perhaps Horst was afraid of the possibility of his being fired, and he preempted that possibility by quickly firing the coach, Bud.

Too much mental gymnastics. They didn’t do this to find someone better than Bud. They did this to find someone different.

Absolutley agree i think the way things played out the upper management wanted needed a fresh voice and with some rumors about losing some of the players(agan i said rumors) knowing they couldnt alot to change the players this was their only choice.
Ive saud before sometimes a new voice new ideas brings new excitement and the tram performs as warranted

I think Bud's firing had to come from the players. Horst doesn't have as much pull as Giannis. Given Giannis' comments about not being able to adjust the defense on Butler because of the coach, and Bobby's comments recently, I'd imagine that the players wanted him out. I don't think they appreciated the scheme that Bud made them play against Miami. Especially since it was this scheme that got them eliminated four out of the last five years against teams that they should've beaten or at least competed better against.

This is the only thing that makes sense to me. That he lost the players or they felt they needed a new voice to hear.
That gentleman sweep in the first round at home was just historically terrible. Especially with the way it played out with our guys going full on Keystone Cops two fourth quarters in a row. I feel like 90% of NBA coaches guide them home to victory in at least one of those games. Players weren’t responding to whatever buttons he was pressing and/or he was pressing the completely wrong buttons altogether. Either way, it was time to move on.

The comment by Bobby Portis about Ham was telling…makes you wonder if they wanted the move last year to Ham.

Horst never said he was looking for someone better thats all this board talks about.
I think its as simple as a new scheme a new voice someone who makes even the smallest adjustments when necessary and above all i feel he lost some of his players

If you were at Fiserv for game six, you could feel the palpable “Thud” of the turd hitting the ground. As the MC scrambled to come up with some statement thanking the fans for being the best fans in the nba. Everyone in disbelief but resigned to the notion we had once again entered “same old Bucks” territory.
Was kind of a weird/surreal vibe walking out.
You knew something big had to change to have any semblance of ticket sales for next year.

Except most of the coaches they have interviewed are downgrades from Bud. The only who you could classify as on the same Tier as Bud is Vogel. Everyone else is either a downgrade or an unproven assistant, and most assistants that go on to be head coaches fail at the job
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"
