Then again, Jacque Vaughn was an assistant coach, and he's the worst head coach in the NBA now....
Vaughn isn't worst coach in the league
Correct. That "honor" belongs to Chauncey Billups. His team blew 17 double digit leads before they started to tank with Damian Lillard having the best season of his career. Those 17 blown leads were a big reason they decided to throw in the towel and tank after the trade deadline.
He had the talent to consistently be up double digits, the other team would make an adjustment and it was all over. Chauncey didn't have a clue how to respond. This was a team that was out scored by 30+ points in the 2nd half on a fairly regular basis. Up 25 on the Lakers at halftime, only to get outscored by 33 in the second half, up 17 on GSW at the half, only to get outscored by 35 in the second half. They would also often go scoreless over the last 3 - 4 minutes of a game (again, when they were trying to win - before the tank).
Whether they trade the 3rd pick and keep Dame in a last ditch effort for a deep playoff run, or they trade Dame and go all in on the rebuild, the very first thing they need to do is fire Chauncey Billups and hire a real head coach. They need to do it NOW when so many good coaches are currently available.
