I think that's an easy choice if it's Miller, since he fits into our rotational needs very well and won't be expected to do too much his first year. But he has less potential star power than Scoot IMO, in fact I can see a world where Miller ends up with a Harrison Barnes type career.
If it's Scoot tho that gives us the more dynamic prospect but it's a tougher decision because someone(s) is/are going to lose value out of that Lillard, Simons, Sharpe, Scoot group. Even if we moved Simons which would be the obvious first move, with Scoot coming off the bench I think it's harder for teams to fall in love with him his first year. Like almost any guard he is going to be inefficient his first couple years and so he needs volume that we cannot give him. I suppose we could bump Sharpe to SF for a few minutes, I think Sharpe has the strength to not be horrible there, but Scoot/Sharpe as our 2/3 wings
is not a winning combo that I think Lillard will accept.
But I'm not in love with Scoot enough to trade Lillard and open up room for him so if he's the pick I think we pull the best damn deal we can at the draft and pray it's enough.
I think that the
boldened is highly debateable. While I do think Sharpe could potentially play some 3 in a Dame, Simons, Sharpe and Scoot rotation... There's no mention of MaThrees and Little. And the elephant in the room as always is neither Scoot or Miller do a damn thing to address our needs, and that's a rebuild of the PF/C rotation... IMO.
Well to be fair IMO a combo forward with good size/mobility who can rebound and hit 3s would fit into ANY teams rotational needs. I literally do not think any team could have too many players like that. Also Miller is in pretty much every way a superior prospect to Little and Thybulle, but as I said I don't think it's an either-or I would love to have extra depth of those kind players.
You are not wrong about the center position needing to be fixed. But I don't think this is the draft to address our center issues, I think something around Simons for WCJ would be a decent move tho
Did I miss something? Why would Orlando want to trade their starting center in WCJ (who I beleive they like last I checked) for a $100 million dollar guard that they don't need, only to leave themselves with no Center as a result? And I like WCJ and would pursue him aggressively if I felt he was THE GUY. Maybe Cronin ends up feeling that WCJ is... I'd be fine with that actually, but I would use Nurkic, Expendables & Picks to get him, and while #3 would be on the table for me, Simons and Thybulle likely would not be as I don't see them as an expendable assets, unless an upgrade is coming back to us.
I just don't see a rookie in this draft that's going to upgrade us in any way, any time soon, but using #3 could absolutely upgrade our PF/C in a huge way when combined with other EXPENDABLE assets in trade. If Dame decides to bounce... even easier.
"a combo forward with good size/mobility who can rebound and hit 3's".... Oh you must mean Watford. Sorry I forgot to mention him.... and there's also Knox who's another guy I'd keep as well.
Stoots will likely be gone at #2 (don't see why he wouldn't be) and I'd bet (not a betting man) that Miller drops like a rock, but my wish is that Jordan loves him and Cronin can somehow convince Jordan to give us Williams for him. Not likely, I know but the point is that I don't see any rookie helping us that's worth the #3 pick, and if WCJ, in the eyes of Cronin, is THE GUY to be our Center for the future, I'd use the #3 in some form to get him.
And I also want RUI!!!
