I was actually wondering if Williams might be more interested in building up a program and culture with a younger team. Just seems to fit his Tobi-like personality.

Wonder if they would be interested in bringing Tobi back?

I think Pistons overpaid. I find its unnecessary to pay that much for a coach for a rebuilding team. While there’s a lot of coaches from the Heat or Spurs organization that they can hire to implement good culture.

But yeah, they’ll just have to make money on some bets in vegas to generate the finances to pay for the salary

Poole makes 30m for the next 4 years and Kuminga currently stinks. The worst case scenario is that you're stuck with Poole's contract and Kuminga doesn't develop.

The departure of Rivers provides hope of developing young talent in the future. I believe Nurse's 'reputation' for overplaying his veterans was mostly a product of coaching for his job and the thinning roster he had to work with in Toronto.

Does anyone else find it kind of interesting that the Knicks fired their GM just as Myers was set to step down in GS? I could see the Knicks making a run at Myers and offering a king's ransom.

I also wonder if this means a tear down is coming in GS. Can't see it as long as Curry is active, but I'm sure as hell not giving Klay the max contract he's seeking, or giving Draymond any kind of extended deal.

Yup. The speculation is that Golden State ownership wants to blow up the roster and start over and Myers didn't want to have a hand in breaking up something that meant so much to him so he left.

There's going to be a firesale in Golden State. I hope we stay away from the big names and try to snag Kuminga. Worst case scenario, he's a more athletic Rui with better defense. Best case scenario is that he reaches superstardom.

If they are starting over, I don’t see why they let go of Kuminga. Our best hope is if they want to squeeze one more run in around Curry.

Curry has said the only other team he would play for is CHA. With an Oubre S&T, they could potentially afford both Curry and Draymond by adding Hayward and Rozier. Of course the second pick would be the prize for GSW.

GSW I imagine will at the most be willing to take of two of those three guys, and probably only one, so that's another issue to work around. Still, an interesting thought.

Congrats to Monty. He’s by all accounts one of the best guys in the NBA and you gotta love seeing someone like that get overpaid by a private equity scum bag.

It seems like Houston is declaring war on the Atlantic Division. By all accounts they are going to sign James Harden outright...Morey don't even call us with a trade deal. And now reports are out that Ime Udoka is looking to hire away 3 of the Boston Celtics assistant coaches. Houston is taking no prisoners. Their motto is "we may not make it to the NBA finals but we are going to damn well make sure that Boston and the 76ers don't either!"
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

While that makes sense when speaking of Kuminga alone... if he is the price to dump Poole, then it makes a lot of sense. GSW isn't dumping nearly 30M for a 2nd rounder.

If GSW was keeping the band together and making one last run... why did Myers resign? He would've taken a one year deal and pushed in one last time. It's not logical... unless ownership said time to cut costs way back.

If they get no TPE for Harden, it becomes nigh impossible to put a contender level roster around Joel this coming year. If Maxey is willing to wait to get paid and they just play it out this year, no additional long term money, they could have a massive amount of cap space next summer though. Have no idea who's available or who would come. And it puts a huge damper on re-signing Reed or McDaniels unless they're taking really cheap deals.

Also if Maxey and Klutch won't wait, then the Sixers won't even have meaningful cap room.

Time for "league office assistance" then. The Lakers get it. And Silver owes the Sixers big time.

My guess is the thinking might be that Curry can still be the hub of a title team, but Klay and Green aren’t it. So, major changes (that Myersmight not be down for) but still with a goal to contend.

They would burn down what's left of San Francisco if they traded Curry.

Denver didn't have a player log a minute that was under 6'4" last night.

Well, that rules out Maxey and Melton, then.

Yeah, munchkins are a no go (with few exceptions).

Even that dynamic Cavs backcourt was rendered down to meh in the playoff series against the Knicks.

Only works when you have a 7' PG running the offense. It's not really fair to compare Denver to everyone else.

Looks like a great retirement gig to get $72M guaranteed even if it doesn't work out. Good for Monty.
