And now reports are out that Ime Udoka is looking to hire away 3 of the Boston Celtics assistant coaches. Houston is taking no prisoners. Their motto is "we may not make it to the NBA finals but we are going to damn well make sure that Boston and the 76ers don't either!"
If they get no TPE for Harden, it becomes nigh impossible to put a contender level roster around Joel this coming year. If Maxey is willing to wait to get paid and they just play it out this year, no additional long term money, they could have a massive amount of cap space next summer though. Have no idea who's available or who would come. And it puts a huge damper on re-signing Reed or McDaniels unless they're taking really cheap deals.
Also if Maxey and Klutch won't wait, then the Sixers won't even have meaningful cap room.
Time for "league office assistance" then. The Lakers get it. And Silver owes the Sixers big time.
