Don't really think Nuggets are as dominant as they were without Murray. Curry says Hi. LeBron doesn't count in either of our sides because he's a once in a generation guy.

I am just of the breed that #1 option scoring guards are harder to develop, and that's okay. I respect the opinion of those who favor multi-faceted bigs. However, having a multi-faceted big is pointless when your team is tiny around him.

greg4012 wrote:A lot of what you're projecting seems to ignore the realities of a salary cap

Which is why I said you must consider trading a max guy AND a bad contract for 2 players on their rookie deal, Simons (which I have said flipping him as he's redundant to Herro), pick 23 and 3-4 MORE 1st round picks.

Allows us to start the clock over on this roster, with the assets to not lose out on stars again.

We'd have

G: Lowry, Herro, Scoot, Sharpe

Wing: Jimmy, Caleb, Highsmith

Big: Jovic

+ whatever you get for Simons + picks 18, 23, and a full collection of Portland's picks moving forward. Plus wiggle room in FA.

Again, not saying it's the best option. Saying because of salary cap (i.e why we don't have Beal) we have to at least go to drawing board and consider.

Shocking stuff, I know

You mean a core not good enough tied up with several bad contracts with no viable improvements to be made?

Look if Portland is only offering the 3rd pick and mid at best prospects then yeah obviously Heat are laughing and hanging up. But if Portland is desperate and offers some kind of godfather Rudy Gobert type package then absolutely Bam has a price

Depends what you consider the core. I'm dying for moves to unload Herro and picks to resolve some of the roster imbalances and take this core to the next level

Nice now you’re getting the drift. Everything revolves around trading Herro (great scoring mentality with attitude but would star way better on a different type of team which is why he has good value on the trade market IMO), Lowry, Robinson, and or Dipo expiring while also clearing cap room/improving roster.

If not it’s just going to be the same as last season sans the unlikely Finals run

KRIS MURRAY
JETT HOWARD

Added to the workout list :o

When you see teams that work out more than 25+ guys you better have 3-4 picks in the draft anything above 50 workouts you don't know what you want and have no eye for talent/scouting.
Tells you really there how Miami is really keen on getting the right guys to come in, zero time wasted on fluff workouts.
They also know what they are looking for in terms of fit, and archetype, which makes the list small and concise.

Murray and Howard both make so much sense. Personally I would like Murray but understand they have the ultimate familiarity and know what there getting with Howard.

I was thinking about GOAT mountain - Heat edition. Has Jimmy broken into the top 5? It may or may not be a controversial opinion, but in terms of success with the franchise, the more I thought about it, the easier it was to break him into the top 5.

Just don’t see how it makes any sense to trade the core of everything you do on both ends of the court, which has resulted in tons of success over the last 4 years for some picks that you hope and pray turn out to be as good as him one day so we can eventually compete for a championship when we’re currently competing for a championship and have plenty of avenues to increase the team.

We are literally right there fellas. There are moves to be made to win us a championship as early as next season

I love Timmy and Zo, that team is when my love for the Heat started, but that combo never won anything, they barely won 1 series. Jimmy hasn’t won anything either, but as the main guy in 4.5 years we’ve been to the finals twice and we’re a shot away from doing it a third time.

Shewasfly wrote:In a vacuum, if that trade package for Bam is true and Scoot is at 3, it is an absolute no brainer to make the trade. That would be a massive overpay for Bam. And with all those assets, the Heat could easily flip them into star(s) to pair with Jimmy to stay in win now mode.

But that's just in a vacuum and without context. No way the Blazers actually would do it first of all. Secondly, I can't see the FO taking that huge of a risk after an incredible playoff run and finals appearance. If it doesn't turn out well, how do you justify it to the fanbase? Yeah, I think its all nonsense.

Disagree, Trading Bam for assets to trade for a superstar makes no sense. Don't think there's any asset we could acquire that would be worth more than Bam anyways so if we were ok with this deal why not shop Bam now for a superstar? and the only guys that would make sense are Jokic and Giannis and those guys are not available.

I don't view bam as untradeable but if the goal is to build a contender now there's not a lot of scenarios of you getting value back to do so.

For me, the modern NBA is all about checking as many of the boxes of essential and complementary skillsets for playoff basketball. The most foundational piece is typically a multi-faceted playmaking wing. Increasingly, there's a rare but growing class of multi-faceted playmaking bigs emerging. With bigs the calculus is different because the average big isn't perimeter oriented or able to play in space (those are automatic major limitations in playoff basketball). When they are, then advantage is naturally gained as more functional size is always better than less functional size in the game of basketball.

Versatility and multi-dimensionality are key. Surround that with shooting. More size is always better if you're not sacrificing the previous core items. If you can get the best special outliers on your team that tilt the scales (Curry as best shooter of all time), then you maximize surrounding him with the most complementary players possible.

Fair enough. Although you could argue Zo played a good part in the 06 chip. Plus Zo and Timmy were the OGs that put the Heat on the map

If we are talking about playoffs sure no question. If we are talking about over all, that means we factor in the regular season and it becomes very hard to seriously consider Jimmy when he coast for half the season. Everyone on that list played hard all year long, well maybe Shaq didnt that much but he like Jimmy turned it up and he won a ring. Also Shaq didnt coast for half a season. So for the playoffs sure Jimmy is top 5 but overall it's hard to put him in the top five. Watching his level of apathy for the game pre all star break is very damming, but hey he shows up in the playoffs.
