Would love them to take a swing on Julian Phillips if he is available at 36...or maybe Whitmore...lol

You're kidding yourself if you think Fultz isn't getting another contract at this point.

There's no way, no how the Magic are letting their starting PG walk for nothing if they make the playoffs next year. Regardless of how Markelle plays individually.

They've backed themselves into a corner IMO. The likely team success the Magic will have next season is going to force their hand on some personnel decisions they likely shouldn't make.

Fultz has played well enough to get another contract but he will be unrestricted obviously and we'll have no control. Here with Black we lock up a legit pg prospect with vision and iq on a rookie deal.

Suggs is injury prone, lacks pg instincts and doesnt really do anything well anyways besides defend.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

The Magic want to compete for the playoffs and they're gonna move Anthony out of the backup PG role when he was literally awesome in that spot next season?

I just don't think so man. If they trade Cole, then sure. But if Fultz and Cole are here, they're the starting/backup PG combo.

I don't think the playoffs are necessarily a priority for the magic. While I think they have great shot at it, I think if they make its fine but if they don't make its fine too. The organization really haven't added any pieces to compete to for the playoffs.

No of course not, but that's what he is right now. And it seems like it's gonna take at least a couple of years for him to develop into a passable shooter.

And playing him off the ball just extrapolates that weakness.
Theres no way he's playing off ball. He's gonna be the backup PG

he is gonna be a bit of everything, especially at the beginning.

and yes,he can play off ball,if he avoid to be too sloppy with some passes.

his visions could open a lot chances for other guys.

Podz to the Warriors is pretty nice, interesting that he went over Hawkins. Wonder who ends the Cam Whitmore slide, because I feel awful for the kid. This feels like an all-time slide, even though there were a few warning signs in the last few weeks.

I saw a couple of condensed cuts of full games and in those it seemed like Jett's shot would go cold in the 2nd half once fatigue kicked in. Getting healthy and good cardio will help him push through that.

Yeah he was playing through injury like whitehead but i agree that it effected his gas tank...he showed some toughness to try and push through it rather than just shut it down....seeing his draft workout interviews he looks in better shape to me though....i can't wait to see him play in summer league

I feel like some of y'all really didn't even watch the games last year

These on ball reps some of you guys are suggesting will be there for Black just don't exist as the roster is presently constructed.

How many pick and rolls did Suggs run this past year when Fultz/Anthony were both healthy? Almost none lol.

They're doing this kid a disservice every single rep he takes next season planted in a corner as Cole pounds the ball.

Cole is going to have to be more of a 2 off the bench. And Black will be the PG. That has to be how its going to be. Theres no way you can play Black off ball.

Yea because rookies at 6 and 11 were really going to make the Magic that much better. Are people suddenly new to the NBA?

Franz was selected #8.

What are YOU talking about?

And how many wins did the Magic win when Franz was a rookie? I'll wait for your answer. To give you a hint...you just proved my point.

It just goes to show that as a casual, we're nowhere near it. We just have to wait and see.

It goes to show how on the scouts level, we as fans are casuals. We're not in the gyms nor in the medical office to determine how healthy and reliable these players really are in real time. That's a reality that we as fans have to understand. We can't lead with our emotions because the player(s) we desire may not be whom our team picks during these events every year. Those reasosn helped humbled me a while back. I used to be one of those fans who would get fired up and upset if and when the Magic pick a player I didn't want at times. Don't get me wrong, the Magic have laid eggs on some players in the past. Sometimes, they may get it right. I simply learn to take the emotion out of it. Check by the categories where our weaknesses are and make a list of players who help improve our weaknesses and go from there. Keep the logistics on point. Keep the emotions out. That's how business works forever and always.

Yeah, I agree. You can't have Black standing in the corner he is best when the ball in his hands.

As Def said, we're playing with house money in this draft. I believe they're 100% in on Fultz and are hedging their bets. Similar to Sac taking Hali with Fox on the roster.
