Trae for brown is certainly intriguing.

Trae dramatically improves our playmaking.

And trae, tatum, kp form a nasty trio.

Brown and brogdon
For
Trae, okongwu and griffin

Save 4 million on deal

Sign and trade grant for suggs

Vet min on griffin
Maybe tpmle on vet pg/sg for depth

Trae/pritchard/davidson
White/suggs/walsh
Tatum/griffin/hauser
Kristaps/horford/griffin
Timelord/okongwu/kornet

C'mon now. I'm all for exploring a potential JB for Trae swap. But let's be realistic here when adding the other pieces in.

JB and Trae are similar value. But Trae has more years left on his deal and is younger. So he is the more valuable trade asset. Which means we would need to add picks and/or be taking back less valuable pieces outside of Trae than ATL is taking back outside of JB.

But Okongwu + Griffin is much more valuable than Brogdon.

Okongwu and Griffin are a couple of really good, young blue chip prospects. They both carry a good amount of trade value. Okongwu was the 6th pick in the draft 3 years ago. Has played well for the Hawks - he's just been stuck playing behind Capela. But he has size, athleticism, still high upside.

And griffin is only like 19 yrs old, was a top 20 pick a year ago, had a good rookie season. He's a valuable asset.

We're getting much more value back with Okongwu/Griffin than the hawks are getting with Brogdon. Brogdon is 30, injury prone, not a good defender..and ATL doesn't need a PG that bad, since they would still have Murray. And a team like the hawks (that is far away from being a legit contender) would rather keep the young players (trae is younger than JB. okongwu and griffin are much younger than brogdon). It's not like the clippers and suns who both have a bigger need for a PG and are closer to being a legit contender than ATL is.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

On the Off the Pike podcast Bill mentioned that there was some tension with Joe and Smart and it got worse as the season went on.

Seems like Joe was also scared to bench Smart in those 4th quarters, so Brad made the decision for him.

I think it's fair to say that maybe this group had run it's course.

As unfortunate as Brogdon was to end the season all the on/off splits favored Brogdon over Smart. Certainly seems like the FO is okay w a 7-8 man rotation.

Also indicates to me that Grant is most definitely out of here.

I think the Cs are done making big trades.

The Cs are running it back with the exception of Smart.

So those hoping JB will be traded this season will be disappointed.

More from B Robb:

- Anyone not named Tatum/Brown/Porzingis/White/Possibly Horford could be involved in a Trade.
- Most likely some team will make Grant Williams an offer the Celtics don't want to match. And don't expect
too much in return, if he's S&T, basically a couple of Seconds.

Idk why people keep talking about Trae. Has there even been any indication he is available? I could have sworn the hawks made it known that he's not. I don't usually come in trade threads so if we are just doing fantasy stuff then please continue.

As long as the Cs get a TPE from a Grant Will trade, the Cs will be better off moving forward.

If they had more time to get it done, and get Brogdon's medicals over to the clippers to review (have their doctor look at Malcolm or whatever) it likely would have happened. But there wasn't enough time before Porzingis' deadline.

Clippers can still do the trade now if they wanted (esp now that Wiz have a logjam at guard). Same guys going in and out for them. I think they just used the Brogdon health thing as an excuse and they just didn't want to cough up an asset for him (likely a 1st).

But why would we do the trade without an asset coming back?

For that matter, why would we trade Brogdon just for a super-late first?

To have a "true PG" (Tyus Jones/Monte Morris) most here have been craving for to replace Smart.

Ok, first one this off-season. Let's play which one's possible! Sign and trade Grant Williams to Indy for:
1. Isaiah Jackson
2. Jalen Smith
3. Duarte and Jackson
4. Duarte and Smith
5. At least one of the other 4 options AND a 2nd round pick.

not sure where all these Trae for JB trades are coming from, but that would be a biggest step backward that we could make and take years to recover from. You think teams search out Pritchard on defense when he's on the floor, Trae would be even worse. Why would we trade a smaller player, worse defender, that is making 40 mil + already for the next 4 years, for a player already familiar with our rotations, that our star player is lobbing to sign long term, that we can lock up. I know signing Brown will be for more money, but as long as Brad is in charge, and Zarren is working the numbers, they will make it work. Just doesn't make sense to me. People here would get mad when Smart would take long distance three's early in the shot clock, well then get ready to pull your hair out with Trae if this trade were to happen. I think one of the main reasons he is called "ice Trae" is because he freezes his team mates out of the offence. I'm not saying I might not move Brown at some point, but no this summer and no way I move Brown for Young ever.

I think we should be focusing on how to get something back from moving Grant. Also, I don't think it would be wise to move Brogdon, especially since Brad has come out and said he would be ready for camp this fall, but if we can break Brogdon's contract down into 2 role players that is still something to look into. I would never try and trade a player from a position of weakness, and that is what Brogdon is right now until he proves his is healthy.

Whatever drop off in usage from Brogdon to the next guy in line can easily be absorbed by having a starter in Porzingis that can handle a much higher scoring workload than Smart.

The Celtics were arguably a Tatum sprained ankle from back to back finals appearances. While they aren't dynasty level great, they absolutely have the talent to get it done if things break their way. To suggest anything else is silly.

Well call me me silly then . If I'm to rely on Pritchard and huaser as my guys off the bench first ok then if you say so. To suggest that Pritchard to be 6th and 7th guy off the bench makes my eyes hurt. Better start praying now about no injuries to timelord unicorn and Brogdon and Tatum's ankle and brown hand and for Pritchard and huaser to figure out to play defense a lot of hopefully and personally improvement I will say that Hauser did know where to be on offense and defensive sets more than can't will so I'll give him a pass and I personally like Pritchard so but I have them as 9th and 10th rotation players that now has to be 6th and 7th at the start of the season. That's a big jump I'll get my beads and four-leaf clovers ready. Because it's going to be a long season of on eggshells from injury risks

Never said that they would be the most important guys off the bench, only that they would be tasked with taking extra shots if/when Brogdon misses time. There's more to the game than scoring.

Whomever doesn't start out of Timelord/Horford and Brogdon are obviously the two best bench players then you add the player they'll pick with the MLE so that's eight. That means Pritchard and Hauser are going to be the 9th and 10th men in the rotation. A role that by your own admission you like them in. So I'm not sure what exactly you are whining about.

I think there is a less than 0% chance Brown gets traded now. I wasn't so sure going into the draft, but it doesn't really make sense.

Tatum, Brown, KP, White and Rob is about as elite as it gets. I'm not totally against trading JB. But people are acting as if him and Tatum are not going to improve this season. They're just now starting to enter their prime. Fill out the roster...see how it goes. If they do end up really needing a ball dominant PG, then I'm sure someone will shake free at the deadline

I think Brogdon should be moved. He’s literally was saved by his injury. Don’t know if he’ll have the proper drive and motivation playing here.

It’s more about actual fit with Tatum and the supermax, which i think he doesn’t deserve.

Brown has very poor basketball sense. It's been that way since he arrived. I don't expect that to ever change. To have 35% of your cap tied up in such a player will not end well.
