SMART wont be the alpha now, he wont be dominating the ball. He wont be taking bad shots. Tatum and Brown deferred to him SO much, now that wont happen. Bostons starting 5's length is ridiculous.
It’s not so much that they defer to Smart, it’s mostly teams double the Jays and leave smart wide open, and the Jays have no choice but to pass it right back. Problem is, smart is cocky enough to take the shot all the time. At least draymond green would look for other options than take the shot himself.
I think both sides are guilty of putting smart higher or lower than where he deserves to be. I remember arguing with someone about smart being a role player or not years ago. Like him being anything other than that was even worth a discussion.
Smart is a glorified role player. He is a great role player. He was too important to how we do things tho, IMO. We weren't good enough, and he was a big reason why. *I still think brown is the biggest reason*
Stevens earned so much of my respect breaking up the core. I would have preferred to trade brown and keep smart if I had to choose between the two but at the very least 1 of the 2 had to go IMO. Unless you are just fine of more of the same for another year. I'm glad stevens wasn't.
So many people talk about smart being the heart of the team..... And they say that like it's a good thing. Need I remind you that this team had consistency issues all the time. They failed when it mattered most, all the time. So how is that a good look on the supposed "Heart of the team.". They look soft as baby s*** often. Miss me with that nonsense. They literally gave up in game 3 of the ECF.
Smart being the heart of the team got us 0 titles. The end.
