Neptune's job isn't to be honest to NBA teams. His job is to win games at the NCAA level and recruiting plays a huge role in that. If players know that there's a chance that Neptune can hurt their draft stock by bad-mouthing them to teams then it gives them a reason to pick another offer. It's not a given, obviously, but having something like this hang over his head can really hurt his recruiting efforts and that's a big part of being an NCAA coach.
I understand your argument, but I completely disagree with you here.
I'd rather send my kid to go play for a coach that is honest, genuine, and has high morals than a coach that will say whatever they need to to win. It's not always easy, nor quick - but you win in the long run by being honest & genuine.
Your kid doesn't win, though. Making it in the NBA is all about opportunities. The higher a player is drafted, the more opportunities they get to prove they belong. The lower a player is drafted, the fewer opportunities they get.
What Neptune pulled here can directly affect a player's chances to have a career and make a living. It really isn't his place to talk **** about his players.
