Both. ESPN is bleeding money right now, has been for a while now, so they’re cutting the deadweight while also make “cap space” for Sharpe and McAfee, who will both command big money. A true turning of the page for a new era at ESPN.
I believe you are just speculating. Disney did not report ESPN separately so there is no way to know that they are bleeding money. I think the consensus is that they are actually very profitable, but we will see in the next earnings report when they change the way they report
