Big changes still coming....
Yep. Many of the Winger Dawkins moves started out with people fussing, then later "Oh... THAT"S what that was all about".
Even with 18 players we are tippytoeing on the 90% cap minimum. We will buy out Gallo. Trade one or more of Monte, Shamet, Delon.
We need to pay somebody. We will have to swap out a handful of these players and replace them with tradeable assets or BYOD prospects. But will need to consolidate the $ in 2-for-1 trades to make it work. Things are up in the air for everybody, we will see where it all lands, but who else are we going to pay big $$$ that actually wants to be on a rebuilding team? We would be overpaying someone else's bad free agent. Kuz took less than Grant, Cam Johnson, etc. Relative to this year's market his contract is a slight bargain. And fans in the arena don't hate him. Late game theatrics and occasional hot streaks have made him a fav player of many barstool and barbershop sports fans. As opposed to numbers nerds.
There will be minutes enough for everybody. I neither like nor hate this signing. The only thing I think makes it iffy is that now Kuz is the elder statesman and probable leader of the team. He talks a good game, looks like he is coaching in-game, he just tends to fire all the bullets in his clip in a ready shoot aim manner.
Which means the ball will be out of the hands of Tyus Jones, and clanking off the rim in a long rebound often as not. Good for the tank. But maybe less good for the development of other players. That said maybe now that Kuz has gotten paid he embraces the team leader idea and is more judicious in his shot selection. And if not: we're going tanking anyway.
