If it were me, I'd stand strong with sending Miami's 28 and 30 pick, Herro to a 3rd team for another 1st and a youngish player Portland likes and probably Lowry and Robinson but Miami would have to also take back Nurkic (or send him to a 3rd or 4th team).
So Miami ends up with...
- Lillard (2+ great years possibly 1-2 bad value.
- Move's Robinson's contract to negate some of the cost of Lillard's contract.
Portland ends up with...
- 3 1st, 2 of Miami's which would be middle of the 1st round or further back.
- Younger player they like.
- Move a lot of future salary.
- 30 mil expiring they can flip for more assets this season. (great time to do this with the 2nd apron just starting)
- Robinson they possibly could rehabilitate his value with minutes or let him be a huge get out of tax jail card to trade in 2025 since he can be waived and only 10 of the 20 million is guaranteed.
If Lillard were 31 or younger this next season (the age Portland should have moved him) sure you may expect to get more but he's going to be 33 and although he'll still be a good/great player for 2+ years, he's no longer in his prime and with that declining athletically.
I don't see how this isn't a good or fair offer, too many national media aren't looking more closely at what is being offered to a rebuilding team, I get wanting 1st from teams that could end up being near the top of the lottery but those teams aren't trading for a 33 year old guard.
There's a difference with KD and Lillard at their ages, one's basically a 7 foot shooting guard, the other is an undersized PG, one has the size to still play at a high level as his physical attributes start to decline.
