To get enough court time to prove that… he’s going to have to be able to shoot it respectably. 34-35%. Can he do that? I don’t think so, but we’re going to find out,

We had Matisse Thybulle on this team playing meaningful minutes. I think they can figure out a way to get Springer on the court.

Man, Doc really sucked lol.

Wow, what an amazing change - a coach doing his job.....

That one line should ensure Doc is never hired again. Surely he can't live off getting lucky with a super team forever.

They ended up benching Thybulle even while he was making All Defense teams. Because he sucked on offense. And Springer is worse. So don't see any role for this guy on a non-tanking team.

What suggests Springer is even worse?

He's not. As shooting-challenged as Springer is, he's a way better overall offensive player than Thybulle. Come on man!

Springer finishing is wayyy better than Thybulle. Better dribble, passer and shotblocker. Thybulles great a one thing deflections and that's it .. Springer can certainly be a better shooter than thybulle and already is a better offensive player than thybulle ever was. Oh and he's only 20. Springer is a underated athlete. The kid is really really athletic.

Springer is way more skilled than Thybulle. Thybulle has very limited offensive game.

As others have said, Springer at this stage is a far better overall player than Thybulle, and he's only 20. Thybulle was never a great on-ball defender and was prone to silly fouls at the worst times, and he was a complete zero offensively.

Springer already has elite defense skills, has far more court sense and is a good passer, he just needs to work on his jumper. I would take him as is over Thybulle every day of the week.

Jaden has played one game in his career over 15 minutes and scored 19 points (and had Trae shooting 1-6 from 3 in a Sixer win). Matisse's career high is 20 points, lol.

Springer knows how to play offense but can’t shoot. Matisse doesn’t know how to play offense AND he can’t shoot. Matisse gave the anecdote that he would smoke wide open fast break layups during his youth & he still plays with that type of cluelessness.

Yep. They need to play Jaden 20+ mpg this year and let him figure out the rest on the court.

Yea I was hoping he would show some combo guard ability to potentially pair up with Maxey in the backcourt. Right now its looking more like he will be a undersized wing especially with how I saw the other guards on the team Terq, Smart and Steward navigate with the ball and that flat outside shot of his.

Hopefully his next showing he can knock a couple outside shots down and maybe not go too hard on defense as he seemed to get banged up a couple times towards the end of the game.

Springer needs to take Melton's mins. Melton is a play off choker and is probably maxed out at this point. We need to trade him and Korkmaz salary for a forward we can compete with that has length and athleticism.

We’ll be lucky if Springer becomes as useful a player as Melton.

I don't understand this at all. It's not just that Springer shot 46.7% from 3 in college-- it couldn't be just that, becuase it was a VERY small sample size. But it's obvious that Springer can shoot. When did we ever see a bunch of moves like this from Thybulle in a single game?

Springer seems much more comfortable attacking the basket and in the nid range when creating. His three point shot off the dribble is much flatter than on catch and shoots. So while I'm not sure his C&S three point percentage with match Melton's at this point, he will deserve a close out and can attack those off the dribble. In some ways he is more of a throwback to a 1990's guard at this point, but he isn't afraid to shoot or drive, which is more than you can say for most of our bench players past and present.
