Chris Finch said Reid’s role will be as a backup 4 and a backup 5, but that he isn’t ruling out playing Reid, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert all at the same time.
Where have i seen this before? lol

Something tells me that wouldn’t work since Gobert is the most switchable of the three lol

Yeah Naz' 5 man data didn't prove he's a good fit with a traditional big like Gobert but shoot if Finch wants to copy the 21-22 Cavs, so be it. McDaniels probably makes more sense as the 3rd "big" next to KAT and Rudy like they did last season tho.ijspeelman wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Chris Finch said Reid’s role will be as a backup 4 and a backup 5, but that he isn’t ruling out playing Reid, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert all at the same time.

Hard to believe he was out of the league at 28, probably should have begged the Heat to take him back - looked almost like a player with them.
John Wall is also out shopping around for a job.

After the airplane fiasco i don't think he could ever wear a Heat uniform again.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:https://www.si.com/fannation/nba/fastbreak/news/nba-champion-attempting-comeback-dion-waiters-most-recently-played-for-heat-and-lakers

Forgot about that, did they trade him immediately after his suspension?

I had to freshen up with some wiki. Looks like he was suspended 3 times that season. So not traded right away but by the trade deadline.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:After the airplane fiasco i don't think he could ever wear a Heat uniform again.JonFromVA wrote:

I'm not surprised to be honest. He has the skills and ability to play a long career in the NBA, he's just always held himself back in some way. I thought he figured it out in Miami and then before you know it he was done. I miss the dude back during our big 3 Kyrie-Dion-TT years hahaha.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:https://www.si.com/fannation/nba/fastbreak/news/nba-champion-attempting-comeback-dion-waiters-most-recently-played-for-heat-and-lakers

I thought the Cavs were taking a big risk drafting a two year College player who Jim Boeheim felt was best deployed as a Sixth man.
I imagine the failure of that pick had something to do with the Cavs change in draft philosophy, because while Dion and Donovan weren't very far apart as prospects coming in to the league: Mitchell kept getting better while Waiters barely changed.
At least the Cavs didn't draft Thomas Robinson...

It also made no sense to draft a guy they didn't even workout but he gave me his autograph, so he'll always be chill in my book.JonFromVA wrote:mcfly1204 wrote:I thought Waiters would be what Mitchell is.

College coaches will sometimes go too far to promote their guy, alas Gilbert didn't listen to Izzo who tried to tell him to go get Draymond.

The amount of prospects the Cavs have passed over drafting in just the past 20 years, hurts my soul.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:It also made no sense to draft a guy they didn't even workout but he gave me his autograph, so he'll always be chill in my book.JonFromVA wrote:

Sure, they've missed out on a ton of players, but this was different in that this was a case Gilbert could have meddled with the process by favoring his love of MSU and Tom Izzo and we would have greatly benefited.

Kind of surprising that never materialized despite how involved he was with the team when he was in better health.JonFromVA wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:The amount of prospects the Cavs have passed over drafting in just the past 20 years, hurts my soul.JonFromVA wrote:

The Cavs in some sense going back as long as I've followed the team growing up (since 2002) we've had periods that was genuinely like "trust the process" level of poor drafting. Definitely with that in mind we are lucky to not have been terrible for many years.
The way the NBA is today, many teams aren't free agency destinations for top tier FA, and if you can't draft & develop talent, it's really hard to field a half decent team in the NBA.

I was on Waiters Island for so long they still send me timeshare literature.
