I think the Vegas part of it is cool. People will go to watch. I just can’t picture players playing as hard as a playoff game. Probably be more like an all star game where they don’t get serious until the very end.

I would be extremely surprised if players care that little. The all star games basically aren’t even basketball at this point. I would expect slightly more competitive than a usual regular season game in the group stage games and very competitive but not playoff level intensity in the knockout games.

Yeah I think one thing we consistently underestimate is the baseline interest of professional basketball players in competing and winning regardless of context. Like, we don't need to worry about these guys wanting to play basketball or win games. That's pretty much their whole deal.

I think teams will win against teams that they should beat but when guys come up against guys like Smart or Grant Williams, etc that back into your knees to box you out for rebounds and generally play borderline dirty physical play some guys will fold because it’s a meaningless trophy

I’m not talking a month, typically teams will “rest” a player for a game or two while the terms are being finalized and agreed upon or waiting on the league to approve it

This seems like a very niche scenario you're talking about. Typically the date players can be traded again is December 15, the Final 4 is December 7 & the Championship is December 9th. So in order for what you're proposing to happen a team would have to make it to the final 4 or championship and then would also have to have a trade worked out over a week in advance of actually being able to make the trade

Yeah pretty improbable but I also think teams have conversations about guys well in advance of Dec 15.

Let's talk about how Kupchak is a bum and his tenure with the Hornets has been an unmitigated disaster.

It’s almost like the LA market and working with Pat Riley and Jerry West made a difference

Jabari Smith is crushing it in SL. Interesting to see how much better he gets this year.

I'm rooting for Jabari, hoping he ends up the better pick than Chet

Paul Reed about to join a crowded Jazz front court

They traded for John Collins, too. Markannen probably should be on the list but they may think he and Hendricks can play the 3 at times.

Yup duh lol. Long weekend of travel and work, still trying to get home. Think Hendricks gets squeezed this year but Olynyk is 32 probably on his way out soon

He looks a bit heavier footed than I recall from vids I'd seen of him. He's huge so understandable but he's not the level of athlete someone like Giannis or Durant is in terms of his explosiveness as an athlete. He's a bit more like Dirk.

Omer Asik. Blast from the past. Also tells me so many middling NBA players don’t have long careers. The Ricky pod guys today reminded me of “Kyle O’Quinn” who was all the rage in here a couple years ago.

Tells you how lucky we were to get Lopez, and have the center spot cemented with competence for the past few seasons.

How might it affect the Sexton talks I wonder, if they’re real.

Christian Wood battling for a free agent contract with Bismack Biyombo is a hilarious turn of events.
