The Champagnie disrespect is real haha. Half the shots in the vid are by him.

Side note, I know they're twins but man, it's crazy - the way Justin moves on the court and the way he looks is JUST like his twin, Julian.

As anybody that has played a decent amount of pickup knows, it's not that easy to run a coherent offense with a bunch of guys that have barely met. JD deserves some credit for doing that two seasons in a row even if he's been way too sloppy with the ball the last game.

4th in pace-adjusted assists per game for his one season as a very young guy in the g-league too.

Until he learns how to put the ball into the dang basket (shooting/finishing) none of it matters. Unless he becomes a real threat to score he can always be schemed

He is only 20.
Still time, but no real improvements yet

so excited to get a look at Banton.
intensity, guarding 1-5, rebounding, breaking down Ds in transition, this is what we need from him...

This is a perfect opportunity for his skillset.

Yup. There's definitely some upside there. And I don't even think his shooting is *that* bad. I think he's a better shooter than the % indicates.

It's a good flier to take. Low risk, high reward pickup.

He is still young, and granted the D in the G-league isn't always stifling. But he managed a .599 TS% in the regular season down there, and put up 27 points on a .747 TS% in their playoff game. Per 36 minutes through the regular season down there he averaged 14.4 pts, 10.0 assts, 4.8 rebounds and an asst/TO ratio of greater than 3.

Pretty much this last sentence. I watched him a lot in Maine and he didn’t start a lot, but I think he’s a solid finisher but bad shot.

The turnovers early in SL are a little mind boggling but exactly what you said. Not much improvement so far.

I’ll be happy if Banton can guard 1-2 or 2-3. Or heck, pick any single number. Doesn’t look like he’s built to bang with any 5s or heavier 4s.

He’s pausing for like a full second or more to “size up” each shot. Hopefully that’s a “haven’t touched a ball in awhile/hurt my hand recently” thing because otherwise I’m an old fat slow big man and I get 3s off faster than that.

He is 6'9 (my favorite feature) very willing defender, can rebound, can take the ball the length of the court, has some PG vision. Their 4s and 5s will have to guard him too

I’m looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the team as well, I’m just not expecting it to include guarding 1 — 5.

Listed at 6’7” lots of places, including ESPN, which has him at 205 pounds https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/4397885/dalano-banton

Go Banton! I’m ready to hop onboard the Bantonwagon!
