AB looks like MCW 2.0, no surprise here. No way he will stay long in the NBA, if he cant improve his shot ALOT!
Jett looks like he can be a rotation player. Im glad his defense and speed is better then predicted. He may become a pre injurey, taller Gary Harris.

Magic fans and comparing them to any Magic player that has a similar flaw.. name a better combo...

Stuff I've heard over the last 2 years:

Jett = Okeke, Harris
AB = Fultz, Penny, Elfrid, MCW
Suggs = Fultz
Franz = Hedo

It's crazy because thousands of NBA players have played :lol:

Black should watch a lot of Brunson. Use his lower body strength to create open looks.
I like him but coming from the bench will help him.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Say what you want about Markelle or Suggs shot, but AB is way worse. His defense has been really good, but man how can you play him over any of our guards??

And even with Jett scoring a lot, I am not seeing how hes anything more than a shooter. His dribbling just doesnt seem to be effective and he just doesnt look like a good athlete. Not quick or explosive. He doesnt dunk near the rim and often fades away when getting near rim. He has made some good reads but also a lot of lazy passes. His defense has been a lot better than advertised though.

AB is very impressive. He can’t shoot-but we all know this-he does everything else well. One thing is he shows up in the 4th quarter. We saw that in the 1st and 3rd game.

If all Jett become is a sniper then he will mostly definitely get minutes. Our team can’t shoot.

Our rooks are playing with mostly non nba players. We’re need to evaluate after playing with actual nba talent.

To be fair. This is probably the most honest take here.

Looking at the box score and reading through the thread from last night.

I like what I see from Black overall. Less so from Howard but i'm happy that he had a game to showcase his shooting. Puts me a tad more at ease.

It is clear to me that the level of talent our team assemble for summer league was not good, not good at all. I honestly would not have been mad if we straight up pulled them from the Summer League after game 1 as I do not see how this league benefited them with their skill set.

Agreed, although there is some merit early on. I think given the subpar SL teammates and opposition, the most we could hope to glean was, "Do these two rookies have multiple skills they can bring to help our team out?" To that end this summer league was a big success as AB and Howard showcased multiple different positive traits.

From here on out it's on the Magic organization to round out their games and get them ready for the speed and endurance of the NBA game. Given the glut of players at positions in the depth chart and slow development of many of our current players, that to me is a larger concern. If AB and Jett spend most of this season on the bench, especially in favor of players with ending contracts, I'm not sure that helps anybody.

He can’t shoot but “we all know this?”

Maybe 10 of us know it. The rest are convinced he’s dead on balls accurate. The fact that he cannot shoot is the reason why this pick was a bad one. And that doesn’t get fixed magically; pun intended.

And we reached for a “sniper” with our 2nd lotto pick in what was likely some misguided attempt at compensating for Black’s weakness by taking a player with complimentary skills. Like we get to take the aggregate and call it a W.
If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

Lol. People claim to know "it's just summer league" but we still get plenty of both extremes here - from "we made the wrong pick" doomers to photoshopping AB's head on our starting PG's body.

Never change, Magic fans.

Overall though, I wasn't mad with what I saw. Which going off the game thread and the box score was 2-5 basketball at the position less level.

im actually the reverse. to me, Jett was chosen to play SG/SF and to make 3's. he has shown he can make 3's. I'm not a believer yet in this dynamic scoring ability from him, but i dont think they ask that of him, especially not right away.

Black, we cannot exist in today's NBA with a bad shooting PG. his shot HAS to improve and improve fast.

Yea I wish there was more level heads. I just push back on the negative because these are both young kids. I think there is a lot to like about Black and I think it could do him some good being brought along slowly. Same with Jett. I will always advocate for patience.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

True but if he has guys around him that can shoot it can work. He still needs to improve of course.

My issue is he really that good of a facilitator? Or he is he like Suggs? If he’s not elite on top of the shooting, he’s a bench player and that at 6 is...No beuno
