He’s pretty overrated by the fan base and he’s a douche but I don’t hate the dude, he’s had some big moments with us here and there

Herros got upside, dude plays hard too

Not sure he's a heat system guy.

That article, from Goodwin’s stooge, Sam Amick, was published to help y’all. It argues that you’re holding firm to the few remaining assets you have because you’ve missed out on so many good free agents and can no longer replenish in free agency what you give me in a trade.

But, of course, you insecure bozos can’t see that and view it as a hit piece.

I’m gonna have Woj put something out in response.

"not enough Miami skin in the game. The Heat need to work at the trade and pay as much thru the nose as they can

* first thing, they need to make an arrangement to OKC to free up their 2025 1st. I think that's available because I'm sure OKC would prefer the Miami unprotected 2026 pick to the lottery protected 2025 pick. That would free up Miami's 2024 first round pick

* Miami has to give up Caleb Martin. I'm not desperately wanting him for Portland but he is a 6'7 serviceable wing who plays defense, and he's on a tradable contract. Asset value

* Portland gets a swap of Miami's 2029 first

so it would be

Dame + Nurkic out

Lowry + Olynyk + Martin + Jaquez + Jovic + Horton-Tucker (if necessary...might not be)

+ 2024 Miami 1st + 202? Minny 1st + 2028 Miami 1st + 2029 Miam1 1st (swap) + 2030 Miami 1st

if Martin going to another team could fetch Portland more draft capital, that's fine; same with Horton-Tucker. But they'd both have decent value at the trade deadline"

So essentially 7 picks (Jovic and JJ included) + Martin, plus salary relief that comes with offloading Nurkic+ Lowry’s expiring.

I didn’t know we were trying to trade for Prime Lebron.

TBH, I don't even think I move that for Lebron lol. With this we see it's not about "Fair return" it's about "Phuck you". I really don't get it. It's not like we were calling Dame every day for years trying to convince him to dump Portland and come with us. They lost him all on their own by not having competent ownership and FO. He just decided that it was us that he wanted. But yet they are acting as if Riley stole their girl lol. It's amusing

Yes and no, with Miami in the tax it's important to not go over the max 15 players and depending on what players Miami has to take back in the Lillard trade (possibly coming from somewhere other than Portland) they may not know what they need and have to get the right types of players in that 15 man max roster (let's all be honest, Miami will try to only keep 14 active players to save on the tax).

So could they sign them to minimums, sure, but they may have to cut some of them depending on how many players are coming back in a trade or cut them so they can sign the right type of player they need for the roster... and that's just not going to happen when they're already in or would go into the tax.

Also, some of those players taking the minimum are wanting to showcase what they can do on a good team to have a shot at geting a good contract a year or so down the road. It's worked for a bunch of players who resigned in Miami and players who left Miami.

I agree, but the Heat went ahead and signed J-Rich and T Bryant anyway. They identified the role players they really wanted. I’m sure there were a couple others they sniffed around on, but it’s not going to make or break the season that they signed elsewhere.

Well sure, SG and Center were positions of need probably no matter what, if nothing else as backups. The rest, like SF/PF would only be needed if Miami loses Martin with Love already signed who can't be traded yet and Butler who's going nowhere and PG... it should be covered by Lillard and if not, Miami will go scoring combo guard again with Herro which is a huge problem with Miami needing to defend PGs.

Just like they wouldn't have an issue with Dame forcing his way onto other contenders like Boston, Philly, Lakers, Clippers, etc.

Really not happy losing on our player development coach. We have been successful, I know we have a standardized way of doing things so anybody who he replaces can come in and take over without missing a beat. However Its not cool, losing continuity. You would think how Miami's key coaching cogs in regards to our development may start getting poached based on how we have performed with undrafted players in our current run.

It's a little different with Harden, he has 1 year left and can walk after the season, so he has more power to dictate where he wants to go. It's a Kawhi/Toronto situation, want to rent him, go for it.

Something that the media just refuses to talk about (because it's bad for their content) is why he signed that extension and why a very loyal player now wants out, it's because the franchise he put all his faith in decided to not follow through with their promises of trying to put a contender around him, they went full rebuild mode leaving Lillard in a position of being the attraction in his final good years to fill the seats as the franchise groomed to contend with the players who will be ready after Lillard's prime. It's a pretty (#$)( thing to do to a HOF type player who has been very loyal to the franchise, they should have been straight forward with him instead of... we'll try... opps we couldn't find a better player than what we could draft, sorry about that.

Continuity is great but the downside for employees is stagnation of their careers. For instance... Spoelstra's not going anywhere anytime soon so assistant coaches who want to be head coaches may need to look elsewhere to move forward with their careers.

The truth is no team really wants Harden outside of Morey in Philly. The Clips will of course take him but they're not willing to trade anything of substance. Harden has tanked his own value since his Houston days. He was trying to get back to Houston before Udoka was hired who stopped any potential Harden talk in it's footsteps before he would even agree to take that job.
