A lot of the other reasons to trade Towns such as fit, defense, flexibility, etc are encompassed in the point "unlikely to find a replacement as good". Working around the cap is a non issue if owner is willing to paid. Get draft picks as currency for future trade but those picks can also go down in value. So may as well holding on to Towns as currency until a good replacement is found in a trade. I don't think he missed a lot of points but he is certainly in the don't trade Towns yet camp.

Chet’s trade value is significantly higher than KAT’s given contract. Chet will not be the scorer that Towns is but he will be a much better complimentary player because he will be a defensively stud once his body fills out and also a good offensive player with high BBIQ.

I’ll party for Ant, McDaniels, Anderson, Miller even. Sayin. It seems like people are forgetting how passive KAT can be on defense. It’s a problem. And he gets passive on O in the playoffs too. Don’t shoot the messenger. I want to see significant defensive progress. Better passing (there’s good passing and then there’s assists—I’m talking about crisp decision-making).
He’s a vet now. He needs to play more like it. Much smarter.

False. I’m being real with you, man. And I notice you’re shooting the messenger instead of talking basketball. Maybe that’s easier than refuting what I observe and communicate. If you have thoughts on KAT, I’m listening. I’d say the same thing to anyone in this thread.

Holmgren really is a perfect frontcourt complement for him, and Towns would be able to be the 1b to SGA's 1a. Regarding the Timberwolves, we don't have a lot of glaring needs, but I personally think Giddey is a near perfect system fit as Ant's backcourt partner. And they obviously have the picks we may want. The biggest hindrance to a deal is the gap in salary matching.

I think their front office is way too smart to touch KAT's contract.
Especially in their smaller market.
I just don't think he is a fit there.

They are building out a really nice deep roster after having a nice 10 year run with 2-3 superstar players, that was probably a good role player away from a title a few of those years.
They were a play-in win away from the playoffs playing scrub big men all year. Chet will help a lot if he stays healthy.
Giddey/Cason Wallace
SGA/Jalen Williams
Dort
Chet
Lots of really good 2-way players. KAT doesn't fit that.
And I think Giddey is probably their 2nd cornerstone piece after SGA, he's just such a tremendous all around player.
The reason we'd love to put him next to Ant is the same reason they wouldn't trade him.
