He is aiming for that supermax and knows the only way he can get it is with Toronto. Toronto on the other hand is stuck in a situation where they do not want to give him that contract because it handicaps what their team can do in the future. They also, likely, don't want to give him a max deal as well for similar reasons...aka their team as currently constructed is not great. They either trade him for what the market dictates or they pay him what he wants. I disagree that they want to keep him on a max (or supermax) contract. If they did they wouldn't be "fielding offers". Most teams paying that amount of money to a 30-year old are in a better situation.
Siakam is going to get traded before the season, he knows it and it is the reason why he has been doing these daily goofy videos of himself begging for Raptor fan attention . The Raptors are never giving him a Supermax when that extension begins the season he turns 31.
I believe the Hawks and Raptors will make a deal after August 5 that will include Griffin/Hunter/Bufkin and 2 picks. He is an all NBA wing player that makes the Hawks a contender in the weak East. As for not signing extension, Siakam is just trying to block teams from trading for him because he wants to stay in Toronto and shoot for a Supermax. Once he is traded he will sign, this was the same guy that was worried about getting into a car accident on his way to sign his first extension. You think he is going to risk that once Supermax is gone?
As for the Raptors, just look at the new HC we hired, not one word about his best player Siakam and always talking about Barnes and playing through him. Teams do not make their best player available for trade if he was seriously part of their future. The whole offseason has been about trading Siakm. Don't compare toxic lrving with Siakam
