Yankees general manager Brian Cashman, faced with the team's worst season in more than 30 years, admitted "it's been a disaster" and promised a search to find out the cause.

New York entered Wednesday with a nine-game losing streak and was on the verge of losing 10 in a row for the first time in 110 years.

"It's definitely a shock," Cashman said before the Yankees played Washington. "We're embarrassed by it."

Fired IMMEDIATELY! That's the cause and solution!

Lmao @ Cashman searching for a cause.

Hal's loyalty to Brian has driven the franchise off of a cliff. This entire situation needs to be ripped apart and reset.

I'm not excusing the players though. Everyone in the lineup is below par in production. Cole is the only SP worth talking about. WTF happened to Severino? Rodon can't stay healthy. Montas? We lost Trevino. Rortverdt or whatever? No. IKF can STFU and GTFO too. Gleyber is not hitting well enough. DJ. Stanton. Etc etc, Judge/Rizzo hurt.

The rotation has just been a mess.

Something isn't working right at the team level. The entire team fell off a cliff in one season? I tend to lean towards a clubhouse issue. Boone maybe? With injury issues mixed in it has been a terrible season.

We started effing up when there were a bunch of stars hitting the market in their prime, available for only cash and not draft picks, after some years of cost-cutting measures, and we decided to make shytty trades instead

Only bc we have a clown cast in the front office... how do u lock this man up for eternity only to surround him w basically the same exact underperforming team n give him zero help?

literally makes no sense how this FO thinks or operates

Cashman still think he got Jeter, Posada, Bernie, Mariano out there with Torre to manage... it'sa damn shame

It's funny and sad bc the one guy from our golden era I don't think we ever replaced was posada... nothing but guys that couldn't hit just basically free outs especially the past handful of years. jorge was a **** gem both w the bat and the glove... the way he COMMANDED the plate and handled the pitching staff was so inspiring... clutch hitter, just a winner like his good buddy Jeter

Oh snap.

Jorge Posada. Forget them damn batting gloves. Just urine on the hands. Hand that pitching staff rolling consistently.

 jorge was a real ball player... old school, built different, just an overall winner. his framework, clutch hitting, professional attitude, humbleness, leader.... that '98 team and around that time was just so damn good high profile talented stars and role players everywhere... Jeter, Posada, Bernie, Tino, O'Neil, Sierra, Brosius, Giambi, Mo, Pettitte, Moose, Wells, Clemons, El Duque, Soriano, Joba, Matsui, Cano.... it just felt like anyone we brought in BOUGHT in and was business as usual.. they all played such a big role in the winning mentality.... a true golden era

I mean Ruben Sierra was one of my favorite players and he was only with us for a handful of seasons... and he really only DH'd and always hit a clutch home run

Digging into the archives!

Darryl Strawberry. Home Bush. Ricky Ledee was a hot prospect (pause). Chuck Knoblauch - before he forgot how to throw to 1B.

The big lefty Graeme Lloyd. David Cone. Irabu was on that squad or was it the next season?

Could’ve had Bryce Harper it’s just unforgivable to literally have no interest in him, Bryce Harper wanted to be a Yankee, he was willing to play 1b and negotiate a deal that would’ve kept the Yankees under the luxury tax just as he had done for the Phillies.

Irabu came to the Yankees in 97 his only postseason start was against Pedro in Fenway 99 alcs, was matched up against Pedro as a sacrificial lamb, no one was beating Pedro back then, it was the one game we lost that postseason. Was at a game against the Tigers in 98 Irabu had 11 strikeouts in 7 shutout innings he had his moments against bad teams but got lit up against good lineups, as a 5th starter he wasn’t bad, god rest his soul.

Donaldson and Bader both gone. I hope the Yankees bring up Dominguez, Wells and Sweeney to end the season. Let's see what these guys can do in preparation for next season now that the games mean nothing.

Bader found out about being waived on ESPN.

Classless. What has happened to this organization??? Seriously. I feel like Hal and Cashman have gone off the rails.

Let's be honest. He'll probably suck and be horrible. General rule of thumb is if you hear a lot about a Yankee prospect before they are called up, they never pan out.

Cashman hoping Dominguez & Wells to be next Judge & Sanchez.
He should get fired if they suck.

I guess we shouldn’t be shocked, a bad team that also lacks any accountability or communication. Sounds no different then a dysfunctional place of employment and these are the Yankees. The on the field product is one, thing this organization has completely lost their way in how they operate.

How hard is it to tell someone they have been let go, we’re headed in a different direction. Imagine going to work and not knowing you were let go you hear gossip through employees, your supervisor telling you you have been fired but we want you to work today.

Return to New York Knicks
