I agree.. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't bring in live young bodies in for a look.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Wenyen is not 2-way eligible.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Hmm, another tall 3 point shooter in Funk. Brad is going aalll in on Joe's bombs away philosophy.

Relax, it's just an exhibit 10 signing. Out of the 5 guys we have signed this offseason to a real contract, 3 of them are guys have shooting concerns and did not shoot well from 3 last season (Walsh, Banton, Brissette).

There's a good chance he never sees the floor in a meaningful game for the Celtics. With that being said, tall shooters are valuable in today's NBA. Would you rather get a 6'1" guy who can't shoot?

It's tough for guards in free agency right now. The other guards who are better than him (VanVleet, Schroder, Gabe Vincent, etc.) all got signed. So now most teams have their guard rotations pretty much set in stone.

Most of these end of the bench signings we've seen over the past few weeks have been wings or bigs.

Also, Hampton was just on the Magic, they cut him so he went to the pistons and now after like a half season, they don't want him either. That's 2 of the worst teams in the league. Next stop for him might be Europe..

How about Obst from Germany, dude can shoot.
Good assessment:

Roster reset. We can carry up to 21 guys through the end of training camp..3 spots open with about 20 days till camp starts..

Just a reminder that Taylor funk should essentially be considered a G league signing. This is a 10 day to bring him to camp with eyes on signing him for the Maine Celtics. Nothing to see here

White/Brown/Tatum/Al/Zinger

PP/Brogdon/Hauser/Brissett/Rob

Banton/Svi/Walsh/(15th man?)/Kornet

Davison/Scrubb/(Two way guy)/Funk/(Other camp guy)

DJ Steward

Just a rough sketch, but based on what they have, fare to assume they will look for bigger guys for these last spots, just to keep the roster balance.

Ah, the JD/DJ dilemma! I hope DJ gets that 3rd 2-way, but it seems odd to have 3 similar players use up that spot. All three have strengths and weaknesses, but from what I've seen, Steward may have the highest upside. Better passing than Scrubb, more offense than Davison. Stewart is undersized, but not small. He has decent length. Will be 22 at start of season and it looks to me that he needs to get stronger to hang in the nba.

If he can fill out more like a Scrubb -- or a Tyrese Maxey maybe is a better comparison -- he could be a real keeper. Just not sure if it can be done this season. The talent is there.

Another year where guys 8-15 on the roster aren't all-stars. GM fail. Sigh.

Prepare for another year of people who don’t know ball saying that we need Dwight or Cousins.

Doesn’t affect Celtics load management plan other than not being able to rest Tatum and Brown in the same game, which we very rarely did anyway until near end of regular season.

Steward I think was much better in SL than JD. Sure, JD is more of a PG and Steward is more of a 2. But the question is, does JD really have a chance at ever getting meaningful minutes for Boston? They might be giving JD one more shot to prove himself in camp/preseason. But if Steward is better, he may get that spot instead.

We don't necessarily *need* a PG in that spot. We already have White, Brogdon, Pritchard and Banton who can play PG. Plus Tatum who frequently brings the ball up the floor and gets us into sets. JB does that too sometimes..

I think JD, DJ and Scrubb are essentially battling for 2 of the 2-ways (doesn't make sense imo to have all 3 of them on 2-ways) with a small chance that 1 of them could emerge in camp/preseason to snag that 15th standard roster spot. I am thinking that last roster spot probably goes to a forward/center type, though..
