What if it were only our 2029 first and 2028 swap?
If you believe that Quickley helps put the team over the top for another championship this year, then I think a 2028 pick swap and the 2029 1st may be worth it. A championship this year with the addition of a young addition in Quickley who is on the rise I think would all but guarantee a Giannis extension through most likely the 2028 season. If he decides to walk at 34 to chase another championship, then he would still bring back at least a 1st round pick in 2029 and help the Bucks recoup that pick. The 2028 pick swap would have at that point most likely not amounted to anything. (I think my math is right on the years)
If the Bucks do not feel like Quickley is the missing piece for a championship this year, then no way should they make that trade. As others have pointed out, those picks can then be used next summer to bring in a top tier talent to keep Giannis in the fold.
A championship this year would go a long way to keep Giannis in Milwaukee through at least 2028, it would be a very big gamble especially with the fact that they would be providing additional assets to NY to attain a superstar player.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.
