I don't think we need to leave a roster spot open if we want to make a mid season trade with the Grant TPE.
We could either send a player out in the trade (like when we used the Hayward TPE to get Fournier, and we sent Jeff Teague out in the deal) or we could just waive a player mid-season, right before executing the trade.

If you waive the player, you have a dead money charge that counts towards the tax. And the other team might not want to use the roster spot themselves - typically in those cases you have to send cash to cover the rest of year salary for the new team.
Not saying you’re right, just saying there’s good financial benefit to just leaving the spot open. In our tax bracket a minimum salary is like $10M with the tax included I think.

But we've got a bunch of guys on non-guaranteed contracts. I think the date where the contract becomes guaranteed for a lot of them is like January 10..so you could just waive or trade them before then, like we did last year with Vonleh and Justin Jackson.
Also, the Celtics are all in, over the 2nd apron. Wyc and Brad have said they are going all in for the title this season. I don't think they're worried about a small amount of dead money.

He’s the only bench guy with + team defense and man defense skills at a position that we notoriously lack defense at outside the jays. You want Tatum and brown to play less ? They play 37 min a night cause we had no one else with any semblance of real defensive upside at the 3. But what about Stevens I hear you say ? Yes he’s stronger and maybe has a higher motor (tho Brisset is no slouch there) but he doesn’t have the off ball instincts of Brisset and historically has been way more damaging offensively

I don't think it reaches the level of "insanity".
But, we'll see what happens.

So you think we're gonna have 2 bigs on 2-way contracts? Both Queta and some other guy? I don't know about that. Sounds too redundant.
2-way contract guys play most of their games in the g league. So ideally, we'd set our team up so that the 3 guys we have on a 2-way, they all complement each other's games, there's no (or very little) overlap in positions, so that we can play all 3 of them at the same time for the Maine team.
I would think whoever replaces Scrubb for that last 2-way spot would be a wing..so he could fit well alongside both JD and Queta.

If I had my way, Queta wouldn't be on a 2-way anymore, He'd be on the big club, replacing Kornet. Then we would have 2 spots open on a 2-way, one for a wing and one for a big. I also would have a camp battle between Davison and Steward for Davison's 2-way spot. So, really, my 2-way roster could possibly get a complete overhaul, with Queta going to the big club and Steward and Davison fighting it out, and someone else taking Queta and Scrubb's spots.
