He may not be the bad guy and should be in control of the staff from hiring to getting them on-board with his plans. That clearly did not happen.

People who automatically think this way generally are toxic in their own right.
There would need to be some serious dysfunction for Stotts to step down so soon.

Or we can wait to see some actual results (shrug).

Starting a guy who got benched in the playoffs, changing the role of the DPOY running up, losing your #2 on the job are all pretty negative things imo.

Ron Swanson wrote:Hell of a way for Griffin to put even more pressure on himself heading into the season if the friction stuff turns out to be true. Team was already championship or bust, but if they don't win it this season then I'd argue that he might/should be a one-and-done coach. You have a two, maybe three year window with this core (Dame/Giannis/Khris/Brook) and you can't waste any of it with a coach who's in over his head.

What have Edens and Horst done that makes you think they would do an all encompassing search and get it spectacularly wrong?
Well it starts with the reports that Griffin wasn't the first choice of the Front Office and ownership but he's who Giannis wanted
Except Giannis' comments the very next month that set all the "he's leaving" talk into a frenzy seemed to douse cold water on that.

That was a work to drive up the value of our future first. Not a coincidence that Giannia did that both times right before a trade. It's why Horst laughs every time he asked about Giannis comments.

Speaking for myself, I'm not assuming Griff was in the wrong. I'm still optimistic about him. But it isn't good when your lead assistant who is charged with running your offense leaves a week before the season starts, regardless of why that is.
Terry hasn't been an assistant for a while and perhaps he chafed under Griff's leadership.
Perhaps Terry and Giannis didn't mesh.
Perhaps Terry and Griff didn't mesh.
Perhaps there were other personal reasons.
But at the end of the day, our offensive architect is gone right before the season starts, and that's never a good sign.

I wanted to give Griff the benefit of the doubt. But he hasn't done anything yet to show me he knows what he's doing. 13 other teams passed on hiring him and he was reportedly not the top choice of our front office or ownership so why exactly should I trust he knows what he's doing other than blind optimism?
