I think Jerami Grant to me should be the trade target for the knicks. He is a guy who isn't an all star, but really close. Those type of guys are usually big parts of teams doing well in the playoffs.
That contract is not so great. Five more years left. 37mil player option in the final year. He'll be 35/36 then and he has not played a full season in 4 years. Not sure what his injury history is but it has been an issue of late. 40/50/60 game seasons lately. He's really not that good either. Pass.
He's been sat down a lot because the team was tanking. He would be 34 -35 at the end of his contract, and on the low he would be Randle insurance because in about a year Randle is going to want 50 - 60 at the same time Brunson wants 50 - 60.
Yeah Grant would be a nice pickup but his contract maxes us out. So unless we have some guys on rookie scale contracts who are absolute studs and All Stars, not sure he’s a fit. What’s crazy is his contract is actually NOT bad at all. We have guys on super maxes making close to 60 million; a starter of his caliber on the wing at 35 is very reasonable. It’s just that Brunson’s next deal will be 50 million if he continues on this trajectory. That said, Grant won’t be available until January, but he may be an option seeing as Portland signed him when they were trying to keep Dame. Let’s add him to the list.

Grant
I also like Grant as a backup 4.
