Not being drafted high in the lottery and/or a big contract.
RJ Barrett is averaging 33mpg on 52TS%, negative player on both ends as per advanced stats.
I imagine Maxey should have had a similar issue. It’s not like Cam hasn’t had big scoring games.
My guess is, he doesn’t play within the offense and still doesn’t play defense. 6th man is probably the right spot for him.
Its not often for guys drafted in the 20s to be given that much opportunity. I also imagine Cam Thomas to be our starting guard and averaging 20+ppg if we had drafted him over Maxey. Sure he’s bad on defense, but we had Harden or JJ and we’re OK. Some of us here even considers adding Zach Lavine. Defense for guards isnt that valuable compared to offense, the opposite is for bigs. Offense is OP.
Nets has a lot of problem. From the lack of scoring to starting guards who can’t score and shoot (dinwiddie and Ben), which is unforgivable in today’s basketball. They are also riding on the shoulders of an inflated scorer in Mikal Bridges who’s better off as a 2nd or 3rd option.
I do understand your concern its just fun to follow Cam’s rise
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
