Maxey made some very tough shots tonight. If that’s legitimate and something he’ll do nightly, then he’s an all-NBA player and I’ll happily start eating crow regarding my early evaluations of him all the way up to last year where I thought he’d be a nice combo guard but not much else.
I will never forget the pushback I got last year for suggesting Maxey could reach the same level as Jamal Murray.
To be fair Maxey being even a good player has meant him making very difficult shots. It was his runners and floaters initially, then the finishes across his body or while bending backwards, then the 34 foot step backs etc. People like us have gotten to see him take and make those shots over and over again for years now, so we have a certain level of belief (which is probably my favorite thing as a Sixers fan rn by the way). But it’s still hard for people who haven’t seen as much to have faith that someone could thrive almost exclusively off of shots that are more difficult than like 85% of average nba shots.
