I don’t enjoy this.

I will pay tribute to my overreaction early in the year if Johnny Davis that ended up being very wrong…but a few years ago RS’s complaint was we don’t really get the payoff of a top 15 team…probably just my frustration right now but it’s an improved team that is once again like the 20th best team probably but just doesn’t have the horses up against a team like this.

And there’s room for improvement, but thanks to Gard’s idiotic scheduling, they’d better be firing on all cylinders this month or they’ll be on the bubble no matter what in March.

Despite the loss I think I'm in on this squad. Storr's offensive ability is very noticeable but needs to be refined within the flow of the offense. We can't run late game stuff through Wahl, he's just too poor of a FT shooter. The defense needs some work but unlike a certain other coach in the state I trust Gard to be able to coach that area up. Thought Blackwell & Winter flashed at times but overall we're fairly bad tonight, but tbf I think that should be expected for true freshmen. It'll help too once Essegian gets healthy, he clearly wasn't tonight. But they fought with a top 10 team down to the end and I think this year's team is clearly better than last year's and I'm not sure it's really even that close

I much prefer the way Gard schedule's. Their OOC schedule wasn't why they were on the bubble last year, it was their conference play

Eventually, raw W-L can to come back and bite you. I’m just overreacting a bit tonight, I know, but they may have 6 losses by 2024 and little room for error…granted, the B10 looks to be down this year.

You could argue given last year’s deep B10, they are basically creating the same schedule as last year by loading up non-con.

I’m sure most will say that if you can’t go better than 17-13 against a tough schedule who cares, and I know scheduling tough games sometimes is considered good by the committee, but they basically are leaving their season up to pulling some upsets/winning the close ones.

Really not a fan of Wahl's decision making late. He shouldn't be attacking the rim with his FT liability. We fought hard against a really good team, were ice cold from deep. **** happens, but Wahl can't be the one initiating under 4 minutes.

They are still Wisconsin with their 5 minute stone cold stretch. They definitely seem different this year though. A little more pace and a few more questionable shots. Their ceiling is higher with the athleticism they brought in though. Storr is obviously an athlete and can get a shot off whenever. Unfortunately, it very likely will be a wtf was that shot.

Tennessee is legit. Physical defense(seriously) with a couple really good shot makers.

TN is a legit team and made a ton of big buckets when it looked like we were close to getting over the hump.

Felt like they got 85% of the 50/50 balls (especially on the offensive glass) and 75% of the 50/50 calls. The obvious goal tend that wasn’t called leading to a fast break three was BRUTAL. That’s a 5 point swing in a contested game.

Anyway, we’ll always be doomed to being a terrible FT team it seems. Poor offensive stretches and spotty three point shooters. Essegian is pretty unplayable right now, which doesn’t help.

I think we’re much better than last year though and we hung really tough against a good team. I’m somewhat encouraged.

Ah, a Rick Barnes team that peaks before the year turns and falls apart in March.

Tennessee is a rugged matchup. Made life miserable for the backcourt and bullied them down low.

337.

Worth noting that this is two games in, of course. Definitely expect a much quicker tempo this year - and also poor FT shooting if Wahl is going to the line so much - but that guy's Twitter feed reads like a message board poster with hot 2-game takes :D Despite returning so much scoring, there's been some pretty sizable roster additions getting meaningful PT so far and I'm guessing it's going to take some time for things to shake out a bit and find themselves.

Yea I've seen alot about the continuity of the roster this year, which I suppose is true, but they are also working in Storr, Blackwell, & Winter who all appear to be in the top 8 rotation. It's also pretty wild to me that they have all these returning guys and yet the only player we're projected to lose after the season is Wahl.

I think there’s some 3-point shooting positive regression coming over the next few weeks but I’m not excited about being like 5-6 record going into 2024.
