The in-season tournament is working with the same raw material. Saying it doesn't matter is short-sighted and misses the point of why playoffs matter in the first place.Knightro wrote:eyriq wrote:What's the difference between the in-season tournament and the playoffs?
The In-Season Tournament literally means nothing. There's nothing at stake other than some extra cash for the players and coaches.
It shouldn't be prioritized at all until the NBA creates some actual stakes.
You're very off base on this.
The playoffs are a path to winning the actual championship of the league.
The NBA took four otherwise meaningless regular season games for every team and turned them into a fake tournament that means nothing.
Now if they add actual stakes of some kind - like the the winning team gets an automatic playoff spot or an extra lottery pick or something, then sure.
But right now there's nothing on the line, so no one should care.
