This team is a disaster without Tatum, lumping him and Jaylen together is also weird/lazy.
Is this the artist formerly known as the Comedian?
Nothing weird about lumping Brown and Tatum together. But are great scorers, with bad assists to TO ratios. Both look to gets their points more than making the right passes and choke under pressure.
First off, yes lol. I’ve been pretty clear about it, no interest in not being able to double down on my own crazy takes.
It’s very weird, and a ridiculous oversimplification. Tatum consistently makes the right pass, which is basically universally acknowledged. As you’ve been shown with stats multiple times, Tatum has proven to be extremely clutch. Just has that nightmare finals on his record, of course. People who drop 46 and 51 in elimination games don’t choke under pressure, be serious.
You’ve been shown the numbers how the team plays with them on or off the court. The team plays like a lottery team with Tatum sitting, year in and year out. Players who have that level of impact are not overrated lol. Multiple national writers have come out the last few days and said exactly what I say in the below post.
KillahGhostface wrote:I am so sick of the lumping of him and Tatum together lol, as you can tell this morning. Tatum scored 45 and had 15 potential assists, makes the right/unselfish play 90%+ of the time, they may have similar shot profiles, but they play nothing alike. Tatum is at his career high in potential assists, despite his usage being down quite a bit. Jaylen at his lowest number since 20-21, FWIW.
We have an offense full of willing passers, and he just bogs everything down. When Tatum is on the court, it doesn’t matter because he’s such a floor raiser, but when he sits? Well, our offensive rating plummets to 104.9, which would be JUST ahead of the Blazers for worst in the league.
Like I’ve been saying for a month now, this offense makes everyone’s lives easier, and Jaylen is out there overdribbling into contested fadeaways and bad threes, which he’s now under 35% over his last 1000 attempts. He’s scoring less, and less efficiently, rebounding less, passing less, but you know, he keeps improving every year!
Rant over.
Ya, your takes sounded like the Comedian. Didn't know you changed your name 3 times.
Potential assists? When did that become a thing. You either get an assist or you don't. Tatum and Brown have always been bad assists to TO guys. I disliked the way both of them played last year because making their teammates better took a back seat to them trying to see how can get more points in each game.
Tatum and Brown both crumble in the closing minutes of close games. Especially Brown. The only reason we have been clutch as a team this year is because of White, Jrue and KP. Last night White didn't play and Holiday and KP struggled in the closing minutes.
For the amount of talent this team has with the additions of Jrue and KP, I expect both Tatum and Brown to pass the ball more to their teammates.
You look at the top players in the league. Who are why and then look at their willingness to share the ball.
In no order:
1. Embiid: 6.2 assists per game. From a 7-1 center.
2. Jokic: 8.7 assists per game. From a 7-0 center.
3. Doncic: 8.1 assists per game.
4. Giannis: 4.6 assists per game: 7 footer
5. Gilgeous-Alexander: 5.8 assists
6. Tatum: 4.1 assists
7. Anthony Edwards: 5.1 assists
8. D. Mithcell: 5.3 assists
9. KD: 5.5 assists
Tatum is last in assists in that group and 2nd to last in assists to TO ratio behind Giannis.
Would we be a lottery team without Tatum in years past? Probably. Tatum is a top 5-10 player in the league like I mentioned earlier. Brown has one of the lowest BBIQs in the league, so no he isn't in the same class as the top players. Either way, I'm glad we have Tatum and Brown on our team. Just want to see them sharing the ball more with their teammates.
