If we're ever going to trade them, now is the time to do it. Especially Gordon, getting something is better than letting him walk for free.
I'd still be very surprised if we trade either. I don't think we've made any major trades since the Kemba/Rozier deal.
I'd try to keep Miles, regardless of his issues he's way better than anyone we could trade for or sign. But if we aren't, we need to trade him too. Can we offer him a contract mid-season? Trade Gordon and re-sign Miles at 35m per year to fill that salary slot.
If the plan is to keep Miles, then we should trade Hayward 100% for asset management. The Hayward trade doesn't even have to be awesome if that is the plan.
If we aren't sure on Miles, maybe letting both expire and chase in FA is their preferred method with 25 million. Not my favorite option, but I guess I get it if they are wanting to hold onto future picks.
It would make very little sense to trade Hayward for middling money and then let Miles walk, that would probably be the worst move. If I had any faith in the FO, a Hayward trade happening should be a direct signal of our Miles faith moving forward, but I don't really give our FO too much credit.
