I know what you're trying to say, but if you can barely see with a mask on, and have a concussion (Embiid did when he played Miami) I'd say that's just as bad or worse.

Which do you think is more necessary as a human being? Your wrist being hurt, or your face on fire from a broken orbital bone?

It depends mate, and it also depends on pain tolerance. Some players can ride the pain better than others (eg masked Jaylen Brown), Embiid unfortunately is not that guy.

Let’s see how it all plays out now that the sixers have a better coach. Doc was a mess, and Brett Brown was one dimensional and became so predictable during a 7-game series.
I'd beg to differ. He plays through a lot. Dude got smacked in the face with the ball after he broke his face and still played after that.

His effectiveness is hindered but for those type of injuries I'd say most players would have similar issues.

I don't live in the US (or Europe when he was there), all on TV...

I am based in Asia and had the good fortune of flying to Manila to watch him play twice, including against SGA. Has a beautiful game, though SGA was a shade better that particular night. The level of fandom in Manila for him was off the charts. 80% of the crowd were wearing his Mavs jersey haha

Wasn't his best game, but Canada had multiple defenders (Brooks, Dort, NAW) and threw everything at him, Slovenia had no one else.

I feel like this thread, for years, is the same two people trying to convince themselves that Embiid is as good as Jokic, or the MVP favorite.

Joel isn't winning another MVP after last season. This early season discourse is meaningless, and the award is still Jokic's to lose.

I still think Jokic will win it in the end, but Embiid is playing the best basketball of his life

He only needed the one. Now he’s got to figure out how to get into the 2nd round of the playoffs without getting injured.

Jokic's plus 97 and CRAPTOR going to take a huge hit unfortunately. I will say, that was a ridiculous call. Silver needs to let an independent body investigate these clowns.

I agree that was a soft ejection, but it sorta seems like Jokic is just having a rough stretch currently. He needs to find a way to get out of it soon if he’s gonna win mvp. Embiid has to be the favorite at the moment he has a 79% win percentage at 15-4 and not to mention he’s putting up ATG numbers.

It's December....... And he is currently the favorite? :-? He will be fine.

Explain this graph to me like I'm a child. Does the scoring system go up with the number of attempts he takes? Points * 1.2 FG Attempt? I'm totally lost trying to figure out the order of operations here......

If Jokic called the ref a MFer, which is what he apparently said, then that’s an ejection. You can’t say that. If he just explained his case with f-bombs, then it should be just one tech and then move on.

How is he the favorite, don’t tell me because of the Vegas odds those odds can change so drastically. The writers from ESPN and NBA.com all have Embiid as the favorite currently and most likely his peers agree as well. Not to mention Jokic’s team doesn’t even have a better record than Embiids. Also Embiid has been playing better than Jokic for a couple weeks now.

You seem focused on giving Jokic a technical rather than suspending or firing a ref who missed the brutally blatant foul. Why is that?

Embiid has been incredible, but the 0-3 thing isn't an indictment on his supporting cast. Embiid missed 3 of their hardest matchups so far, all on the road (Minnesota/NOLA/Boston with the first being a B2B).

Sorry I was off a week. NBA.com had Jokic last week, all the guys on ringer had Jokic for their Quarterly awards today. So cool, Embiid has been a superior player for 3 weeks in November/December. Jokic could play like this for another month and still be in the race. Go back the last couple years and see the Top5 rankings in December and you will see a lot of random KD, JButlers, etc who had a hot month or two but couldn't sustain it either through play or health. Same with Embiid in prior years before last year. All I'm saying is it is a long season and make definitive statements like "He needs to find a way to get out of it soon if he’s gonna win mvp" in December is asinine

The Nuggets should collectively get a tech or get all thrown out next time that happens. There wasn't superstar in history with such a bad whistle, and it being in this era where a lot of players are getting soft calls makes it even worse. Nuggets need to somehow make a scene and let the world know. Couple of Jokic ejections are not changing it.

A ref will not get suspended or fired for missing a call. lol
“Come on man, that’s an F-ing foul. F-ing call it next time.” (Tech)
“Call it MFer.” (that is going way beyond what’s acceptable and must be ejected)

Imagine having a guy who is literally breaking basketball with his dominance and instructing referees to treat him like a 12th man. Unbelievable!

Your not understanding how good some of these players have been playing, a bad two week span in December could put a Candidate at quite the disadvantage. The way Embiid is currently playing the player that’s gonna win needs to be as consistent as him if they want to win mvp this season. And not even just Embiid, same goes for luka and SGA these guys are playing so good you need to be on your A game for a large majority of the season if your gonna win MVP this season.

The ringer is full of a bunch of Celtics nut hugging Bill Simmons quacks.

To answer your other question I'm not sure what the formula is for that graph. Maybe someone better in math can explain.

I agree Embiid has been playing his best ball along with Maxy who should be an allstar and should get consideration for all nba team. It is about time they get a good coach. Nurse has done wonders for that team. Btw the Bucks are stupid not hiring Nurse. wtf were they thinking choosing Griffin over Nurse
