Not me...
You just inspired a new nickname from me for Joe. "regular season Joe".
How many coaches win COTY get fired, get rehired, and become the regular season worst coach?? Monty Williams is the latest example.
In the playoffs is where real coaching is displayed. Or lack thereof. The best Rosters in the regular season can just coast. But when a team gets to the final 4 or 8 playoffs spots, and rosters even out a bit, then coaching and strategies become more relevant. Teams/coaches have far more time to develop gameplans against one single opponent unlike the regular season.
Is Joe a good pre-game strategist?? Does he command good-great respect from his players? Does he adapt well in games?? Does he have a good feel for adjusting on the Fly on offense or defense? Does he throw away a gameplan when something goes wrong?? Does he hold players accountable when they go away from the game plan?
Above are just rhetorical questions for me. Everyone has to look and answer to themselves first.
Other than getting a good position for the playoffs, the Regular season means squat. How many years do we have to go through this?
Um, he's only been a HC for 1 playoff run.
And during that 1 playoff run, he had no offseason to prepare for being the HC (got the job like day before training camp started), had to walk into a locker room of shell shocked players who were in disbelief about what happened to Ime, players who didn't know whether or not Ime would end up back as coach (with Joe back in assist role) once Ime's suspension was over, had to coach with Ime's buddies for assistants, Hardy left for Utah, the top assistant Mazzulla had left to take a college job right before the playoffs (Stoudemire). And the franchise player sprained his ankle on the 1st play of game 7.
Spo didn't do anything in the playoffs until his 3rd season as a HC. Pop didn't do anything in the playoffs until his 3rd season. Mike Malone didn't do anything in the playoffs until his 10th season as a HC. Nuggets fans wanted him fired in 2021, 2 yrs before he won it all:

Spo also just got spanked in the NBA finals. By a coach who Nuggets fans wanted fired 2 yrs ago. And Spo also got spanked in the NBA finals in 2020 by a coach who many fans had never even heard of before the bubble (Vogel).
Spo hasn't won a single title without arguably the GOAT in his prime on his team.
Not saying that coaching doesn't matter but you seem to be overselling it. You also seem to be overselling Spo and overly quick to dismiss Joe, when history tells us that many really good coaches didn't win anything in the playoffs till at least their 3rd year..
Hal,
You're invested in Joe as the Celtics coach who can bring them a Title via the coaching realm.
And Joe's a good coach, just good, as Playa points out, but they will win the Championship by Porzingis/Brown/Tatum overcoming his limitations.
That's where we are at, compare Joe to an NBA Player - Sabonis, a fine regular season player who is exposed in the playoffs or Randle for the Knicks. These are the Joey Ms of the NBA world.
spoelstra, meanwhile has Miami Number One in Offensive Efficiency, because of his talent and ability.
