The Cubs losing interest in Arod?

Post#1 » by VinnyTheMick » Sat Nov 3, 2007 4:20 pm

Content with third baseman Aramis Ramirez -- and not in the mood for setting more offseason spending records -- the Cubs don't expect to be a player in the A-Rod sweepstakes.

Doesn't look like the Cubbies would be able to afford him anyways, judging by the new story about his opt out:

Nobodys is going to able to afford A-Rod for 43 million dollars a year or what ever I just heard he wanted. Even at 30 million there are only 5 or less teams that can afford him.

No teams have really gone out and said that they really want A-Rod. The new owners will likely fire Hendry if he can't add A-rod or doesn't even try. If we let Kendall, Blanco, Floyd, Trachsel, Glendon Rusch go, how much money would that be? A-Rod is probably going to have to lower the amount of money he wants if he wants to be on a team next spring.

The Mets don't want him either. They said that David Wright is their 3rd baseman.

Your first statement does not necessarily follow from your second there.

Wow, I hope the Mets get Arod. That will make the rivalry 10000x better, as if it wasn't already an excellent rivalry in the first place.

It could happen, they want to bring fans into their stadium and what better way to do it then sign the best player in baseball. They have money they just don't spend much money.

Is their payroll even larger than arods salary last year? They are going to trade Miguel Cabrera this off season. Thats because they don't want to pay him. Face it, the marlins are the last team in the league that could get a-rod.
