We definitely have some nice pieces. And truthfully we do have one of the better orgs right now. But our lack or commitment to the draft and continuing to overpay mid vets is definitely a problem.
But it can't be ignored that we are one of the better teams in the east.
We've identified some solid talent and pounced - Brunson and iHart being prime examples. They've also developed IQ amd Mitch nicely. We are far from perfect.
The teams plan on landing a star isn't looking good as of now. But we aren't the trash org we once were.
This is a nice team.
But it's easy to hate on em because it's not a true contender. And if that's all some fans care about I get not fcking with em.
3 of our rotations players are late first round picks or early 2nd. It’s not like they haven’t used the draft before. People forget that the only reason we didn’t have a pick last year is cuz of the Mavs tanking. Nobody would have predicted before the season or even at the trade deadline that the pick wouldn’t have conveyed.
Also using picks to get good vets is absolutely a valid use of draft capitol. The nuggets did that with Aaron Gordon a few years back. Warriors used draft assets to bring in Iguodala. At the end of the day it’s about using your assets to add more nba talent to your roster. Which is something they’ve done cuz we’re on pace for 48 wins.
I don't disagree with you. There is a lil difference in those teams and us being that they have two elite super stars on their teams which makes it easier to use draft capital to add vet pieces.
I'm just in the camp that would like to see them take some risk in the draft to find us an elite talent.
Its fair to have some complaints about the construction of the roster right now. Bringing in Donte when we have IQ and are in need of a SF/PF is puzzling.
But it's all small - this is the best run we've had in a long time.
