This is not Shams talking trade, but rather Shams talking Pistons plans in FA. They are likely not trading this year at 2-29 unless selling. Not buyers.
But here are the Bridges trade rules, as a reminder.
1. He has a no trade clause. Shouldn't really be a factor IMO.
2. Hornets have his bird rights, can go over the cap to sign him.
3. If a team trades for him, they do not get his bird rights.
Meaning, in a trade the team can only resign Bridges with cap space. That limits the number of teams that are probably interested at a certain price. That leaves 2 types of trades IMO.
1. The team that has cap space that wants to sign him next off-season like Pistons, who would pay 35 cents on the dollar to get him in house and make negotiating easier. Something like Monte Morris and 2 2nds or Killian Hayes and a 2nd. Teams projected with over 20 million in cap space. 76ers, Pistons, Magic, Pacers, Jazz, Raptors, Spurs, Wizards, Rockets
2. A team that has no cap space. That is good and is willing to just trade for him as a half season rental and let him walk at end of the year, common in baseball. So again this probably limits the assets a team will give for a 95% chance he walks at end of year. Ala a Celtics, Miami, Dallas etc...
Here are 5 realistic trades Imo.
1. Hayes and 2nd for Bridges. Pistons resign Bridges to long-term deal in FA.
2. Korkmaz and Clippers 2028 1st. Sixers get boost this year and have space to maybe sign Bridges.
3. Obi Toppin and 2nd. Pacers improve this year and gives us one RFA for an UFA, probably sign Bridges.
4. Jovic and Love. Heat just get Bridges for playoff run, he signs elsewhere.
5. Josh Green and Markeiff Morris. Mavs get Bridges for playoff run and he signs elsewhere.
