His contract gonna be an albatross if they extend him.

I'd rather just go after Mathurin, Walker and Hield now.

Not sure how tradeable a 248/5 contract would be tbh. Would it be any better than him as a 37m rental right now? Might as well just deal him for rental value at that point, you at least get the option to potentially sign an MLE level player next offseason, or more.

traded before the TD.

It gives me confidence in the OG deal that Masai can get value back. Some teams will bite

We hope that's on the table but if there are only low value deals, they will extend.

As a Pistons fan I'd happily use our $55 million in cap space to give him a max contract (I'm sure he probably has better options than us) but I'd be super unhappy to trade assets for him and then have to give him the much larger 5 year max, or then have him leave us high and dry for nothing.

I wouldn't even want to give up a single future first for him or any of our young guys on rookie deals. You'd almost have to find a team willing to give something of value up because they feel like he's a possible piece to put them over the top... kind of like the Raps risking it for KL in 2018.

Don't go applying for the Pistons GM job and getting Weaver fired just yet. We need him in the game even if only to get more out of another team interested in Pascal.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

I think extension is off the table, seems Siakam and the front office are at odds.

This is just making to much sense for Pascal to end up in Philly.

Nurse connection
They have max cap space so no need to trade for him
Fellow countryman and friend in Embiid

I am sure Nurse probably did the sales pitch last year.

Masai should have traded Pascal last year!

Siakam choosing to bet on himself clearly backfired, so now he’s refusing to cooperate with the FO and is choosing to enter FA.

Normal stars usually give a list to their FO on destinations they want to head to but I guess Siakam’s camp isn’t operating that way. Completely within their right not to but it sure does make it harder for us.

It would have been easier if Masai didn't choose to wait to the last possible minute to trade him.

Yep. This blunder is 100% on Masai.

His best chance was the summer. No clue why he didn’t trade him.

Now he’s backed into a position where he has to extend him or trade him for a weaker trade package.

Been saying it for a couple of weeks now. Siakam will end up in Philly if he hits free agency. Not a doubt in mind about it.

Maxey/Siakam/Embiid is a core capable of contending. There's literally not other situation besides made the Warriors that can pay him and give him the best opportunity to contend for a championship.

It's a lose-lose situation and everyone knows it.

1.Teams are reluctant to pay top dollar because he won't commit to resigning
2. He won't commit to a 4 year deal with us.

So we either have to pay him a 5 year max deal, which we can't win with and may prove difficult to move or we let him walk for free to Philly where he'll take the 4 year deal and play for Nurse along with his MVP type countrymen.

What a mess. Did Ujiri not see this coming? Because most of us on here did. If we 5 year max Siakam or lose him for nothing, heads should roll. There's just really no excuse for this kind of mismanagement. Not from one of the highest paid executives in the league

OG was a better fit with that core.. Siakam not so much.. Siakam and Nurse didn't really get along well either..

You mean the friend and fellow countryman who no longer plays for said country? Other than them both being from Cameroon, what indicates that they're friends? They're more so friendly rivals. I also didn't get the impression that him and Nurse were particularly fond of each other. But who knows, maybe he does end up in Philly.

He tried to trip Embiid once after the former knocked him down. He also got into a heated confrontation with Nurse in the locker room once.

Its Morey the scum who has done this in the past with Harden when he was in Houston, he did it with Nurse last year using their Houston connection, hes doing it with Pascal. Only difference is he has Nurse and Embiid to lure Pascal. Recruiting other teams stars before free agency has been his gig. He should be sued by the Raps

I honestly expect a poo poo platter like Barnes + Davion + Huerter for Siakam.

We have no choice but to trade him and that's all we're gonna end up getting it seems like.

Honestly, I want this to end, and a Barnes, Huerter, Davion + Picks would be a decent haul imo. Everyone on this board knows for years we're lacking a bench. Huerter, Davion are decent bench players (Davion could be one, still has work to do). Huerter is a another nice shooter for our rotation. plus 2 frp ? That's a deal for me. Or Indiana with I. Jackson, J. Walker and Nesmith ? Done deal.

Trading him in the summer after Barnes looked terrible last season would have been a big risk. It wasn’t clear that you could actually build around Scottie based on his lack of improvement (or even regression ) from his rookie year.

Crazy thought, maybe he didn’t like the offers that were available? Perhaps like with OG he took the calculated risk that a better trade would be available in the future.

Ultimately, re-signing him to isn’t the end of the world. He’s still an All-NBA player that will be tradeable on a max contract. The only actual pressure to trade him is if they believe he will actually accept a 4 year deal somewhere else and leave $50M+ on the table.

We literally brought in a development coach over the summer and told him to talk about how we're building around Scottie 24/7 to the media. We clearly intended to build around Scottie then too.
