His contract gonna be an albatross if they extend him.
I'd rather just go after Mathurin, Walker and Hield now.

Not sure how tradeable a 248/5 contract would be tbh. Would it be any better than him as a 37m rental right now? Might as well just deal him for rental value at that point, you at least get the option to potentially sign an MLE level player next offseason, or more.

As a Pistons fan I'd happily use our $55 million in cap space to give him a max contract (I'm sure he probably has better options than us) but I'd be super unhappy to trade assets for him and then have to give him the much larger 5 year max, or then have him leave us high and dry for nothing.
I wouldn't even want to give up a single future first for him or any of our young guys on rookie deals. You'd almost have to find a team willing to give something of value up because they feel like he's a possible piece to put them over the top... kind of like the Raps risking it for KL in 2018.

We hope that's on the table but if there are only low value deals, they will extend.

Siakam choosing to bet on himself clearly backfired, so now he’s refusing to cooperate with the FO and is choosing to enter FA.
Normal stars usually give a list to their FO on destinations they want to head to but I guess Siakam’s camp isn’t operating that way. Completely within their right not to but it sure does make it harder for us.

Nurse connection
They have max cap space so no need to trade for him
Fellow countryman and friend in Embiid
I am sure Nurse probably did the sales pitch last year.
Masai should have traded Pascal last year!

It would have been easier if Masai didn't choose to wait to the last possible minute to trade him.

His best chance was the summer. No clue why he didn’t trade him.
Now he’s backed into a position where he has to extend him or trade him for a weaker trade package.

Been saying it for a couple of weeks now. Siakam will end up in Philly if he hits free agency. Not a doubt in mind about him.
Maxey/Siakam/Embiid is a core capable of contending.

You mean the friend and fellow countryman who no longer plays for said country? Other than them both being from Cameroon, what indicates that they're friends? They're more so friendly rivals. I also didn't get the impression that him and Nurse were particularly fond of each other. But who knows, maybe he does end up in Philly.

I honestly expect a poo poo platter like Barnes + Davion + Huerter for Siakam.
We have no choice but to trade him and that's all we're gonna end up getting it seems like.

Trading him in the summer after Barnes looked terrible last season would have been a big risk. It wasn’t clear that you could actually build around Scottie based on his lack of improvement (or even regression ) from his rookie year.
