Re: PG Celtics - Domination
You can't sell high on Beasley because of his contract. I guess if you package it with Pat maybe you can get something. I think you keep Beasley and sell high on Payne while his numbers are still good. His playing time seems to be getting less and less. This teams really needs a combo point big enough to play pair with Lillard or Beasley and keep their time together on the floor short/situational. The only guys I can think of like that are Wright, Caruso, Smart, and Brogdon. Smart is probably not available and his shooting is suspect. Another buy low guy who could fit, despite having a bad year, would be Dinwiddie. Only 2 of Midd, Lill, and Beas should be on the floor at 1 time.
Players I'd trade are Lopez, Payne, Pat, and Marj. I would say Bobby but his contract won't bring you back as much value as Lopez could possibly.

Actually, I wanted this win & prefer if this was the norm.
Unfortunately it hasn't been pretty. Especially recently.
If we're stuck with him, hopefully its because he has learned to adapt.

Khris played really good defense today after a long time. That made a difference.

Not a big Griff fan obviously, but if our guys come out with even 85% of the focus and intensity they demonstrated in the first half tonight, they cruise to 60 wins.
At some point, you can’t completely absolve this very veteran group of players of their often dumb and lackluster play despite the obvious mismatch of talent/system.

Dame hitting shots early was good for momentum. And Bobby pouring in 28.
Wonder how much Gleeson is impacting the constant kicks for better looks. The passing was excellent in this game.

You spelled Beasley wrong. AJ Green can provide everything Beas does, plus more, but that isn't what we need from the SG anyway. Sell high on Beas, and then go get what we need.
Would AJ Green be the best 3pt shooter in the league? Because that's essentially where Beas is right now. He's leading the league in 3pt%. You might get a Sam Merrill-type that will be great in spurts with Green, but then really come back to earth. Beas feels like his shooting is sustainable. Obviously you're never going to have a better time to sell, but if this is going to be the norm (because of the space that Giannis/Dame create) do you want to give that level of shooting up? I'd be looking at Payne, Marjon, Patty (even Green) if I want to move on assets. Not Beas at this stage.

Van Gundy was puzzled why Beasley didn't have similar shooting numbers in LA. I think its pretty plausible that this is just a hot streak & he comes back down to Earth.
But he has motivation to earn a new contract, so he may not.
If Beas can improve his defense, he'll be fine continuing to start. Although Khris seems to be getting better on D with every game & more reps.
While it makes it less crucial, he'd still be better off committing to being an all-around player.
Hopefully Giannis rubs off on him in that regard.

That was a lot more enjoyable to watch than the Jazz game. Hard to make too much out of it given the shooting differential but hopefully we can build on something

Re: PG Celtics - Domination
Credit where credit is due, the guys came out like bats out of hell in this one and Boston couldn't match. B2B, 5th game in 7 nights, yadayadayada.
The great shooting early really demoralized them, and then without Horford, you can see why they are aggressively on the market for bench upgrades. Just obliterated their 2nd unit in that 2nd quarter.
There was one play in particular where Khris sloppily went behind the back, somehow regained control of the ball, and rifled a pass into heavy traffic to Giannis for a dunk where you just know it's your night.
Celtics also apparently didn't get the memo to spam PnR situations for floaters. They got some easy dunks early but did not go to that well nearly enough. They might actually be a favorable matchup for Grief's style. Brown, Tatum, and Jrue get real panicky with the ball when the defender is in their grill.
I'm sure Stevens will address their issues by the deadline, but this team as constructed cannot stop Giannis (unless Horford once again discovers the fountain of youth) and their bench is worse than ours.
When you take the Celtics to the woodshed, it is a good day. Every time. But goddamn, just when you think you've got Grief dead to rights, he pulls a **** rabbit out of his hat.

Boston this year on the second of back to backs:
W against Toronto - first game against Nets (both at home)
L against Charlotte
W against Orlando - first game against Cavs (both at home)
W against Kings - first game against Warriors (both at road) - very short trip because San Francisco and Sacramento are neighbors
W against Toronto - first game against Pistons (both at home)
W against Indiana - first game against Utah
L against Bucks - first game OT win against best team at west. Now without Horford and on road
Nothing compare with this. They were extremely tired against us.
Plus, they are 18-0 at home and 11-9 at road. We are 17-4 at home and 9-8 at road. This game was in Milwaukee.
I mean, I understand being happy about Bucks win. Especially against Celtics. But we really didn't learn anything from this game. Only that players didnt quit on coach. Thats something I guess.

Strategic stealth Celtics tank
Figured Bucks would hit 20+ 3 pointers to save Griffin’s job, wouldn’t count on it next game. Nothing has changed.

Beas improve his defense? Not happening, he has no lateral quickness. He's been in the league a long time, and several teams have already moved on from him because of his defense.

Green is an absolutely phenomenal shooter, Beas shot 35% from 3 last year. Green is far more sustainable, especially if he got dropped into the dream lineup Beas gets all his minutes in. Then
Then you get to the rest of their game, where Green is better in every phase, defense, ball handling, passing.
