misguided and shortsighted.

Niko will be the better player pretty soon, will make 1\5 of what PJ makes and will have a lot more upside.

Or overly optimistic and can just be the next Mario Hezonja lol

Barring injury no chance, Hezonja is a guy who relied on athletic ability in Europe (which by NBA standards is not great) and had no real skills in terms of ball handling/passing/getting to the line or defense (had a good jumper) and was average size for a wing. Jovic is the complete opposite of all that plus he plays harder/better attitude and unselfish.

One thing with Jovic is that everything he was doing in the Summer League against scrubs is transferring to the NBA level against grown men, obviously not at the same quantity since he's a 5th option on the floor playing next to mainly starters.

Heat are in a tough position because in order to win now and get something decent back he's the most valuable piece they got (JJJ imo is untouchable) outside of draft picks.

You can see it in short bursts, how the top lineup flows well together. Jovic is another guy who just makes **** work. When hes in a flow and he lets his size work for him on D, hes fun to watch.

A lot of that probably also has JJJ on the floor too

There is just no way I would trade Jovic or JJJ, and would not really want to trade this version of Duncan either....

4 willing passers in Bam/Jovic/JJJ/Duncan trying to set each other up, but still have the skill to score that just so happen to put some actual damn SIZE on the court to boot.

Thanks for looking that up Bammy!!

I have so moved on from the Butler time line. Love the dude, hope he sticks around like UD did...but I am all in on that Bam/Jovic/JJJ timeline.

As a member of the Jovic fan club I must inform ya'll we're taking notes and some of ya'll will indeed get clowned on pretty soon when Niko blows up.

This stuff goes on your permanent records

Ay I’m on the Niko fan club, I’m giving up 2 picks over a pick and Niko any day of the week.

He should at very least be on a two way at this point considering our piss more depth at guard. I like what i’ve been seeing from him over Hampton

I think the lesson I learned, and to some degree the front office learned too is simple -

You bet on high IQ player over the raw talent ones.

JJJ is proving that despite lacking any elite raw tools he's just a winning player, mainly to his BB IQ.
If Beasley had the same level IQ he'd be an MVP candidate.

That's why I'm optimistic about Niko. I can see the IQ. And the size. And he can shoot.

When you combine these 3 factors - it's only a matter of time before he's a legit wining player.

Ive def learned a lot over the past 15 years on what it takes to be a good Miami Heat pick. I think our FO has too.

I think that with Spo having a bigger input and the way the NBA game is trending for the last few years - there's a slim to no chance we're picking some raw elite tools no IQ type athlete in the next drafts.

The game is getting more complex on both sides, and I think we're putting a big emphasis on high BB IQ players with high level characters.

Not sure whos the targert in this next draft but i'm willing to bet he won't be clueless.

Reed Sheppard. High IQ. Shoot the lights out. Quick hands. Finds his spots quickly. And hes a Wildcat.

He's projected top 10 or late lottery, you think we're picking there?

Also not sure about the Herro pairing..

Who knows where he may go. Mocks are always all over the place until the combine.

I keep saying I want that 15th pick. Im serious. You need to be close to that and give yourself a chance.

Yeah the only low iq type players left are catch and dunk bigs and 6th man sparkplugs everything else you got to understand the game to have any success.

God bless you know it’s bad when Bill Simmons is the voice of reason but he’s spot on here. Thinking you can make the finals or win it all is NOT a reason to sit on your hands and do nothing. That should be a sign to try and improve even more to better your chances of winning it all, feeling that way should motivate you to try and be even better

The past four games the Heat have become less of an offensive team to more of a defensive team. Likely due to the reinsertion of Butler, Highsmith and Martin.
Heat are 3 and 1
103.1 OffRtg, ranked 28th
104.5 DefRtg, ranked 3rd

Two more days and we can officially trade Dru Smith's contract. Almost a necessity at this point to get his dead money off the books and open up his roster spot for a healthy player.

Dru Smith
Trade Restriction: This player cannot be traded until Jan 21, 2024.

Return to Miami Heat
