He has every red flag you don’t want in a guy that turns 30 next season and is locked into a monster deal.

- lowest PPG, FG%, 3PT%, APG since the 2017 season
- Injury prone
- The bulls have a winning record without him this season
- 10 season in the NBA.. has only played in the playoffs once
- No commitment to defense, questionable BBIQ

AAV of 43 mill until 2027..

This is the kind of desperate last ditch attempt move the LeLakers need to make.. not the magic

I'm not saying I'd absolutely do it ( that contract makes me lean no) but as weird as it sounds, I think he'd be a different player with us. Our style of play would reel him in to take better shots then he takes currently. Also because we are a defensive focused team I think he at least would give effort. Hes long and athletic enough to be solid on defense. Look at Cole. People rag on his defense, but you can't deny the effort he gives on most nights. Putting him on the floor with Paolo and Franz just fits perfectly and would spread the floor well cause you dont want to leave Lavine. He attacks closeouts really well too. It would work IMO. The only way Id be ok with it is it a cap manager could break down to me that his contract would not affect us resigning our core and the Bulls would have to trade him to us for basically nothing but cap relief. I'm not giving them value when we are taking the risk.

Honestly outside of the monstrous contract. We look like we double downed on Black + Jett + Suggs and Cole. One could argue Jett isn't a SG / SF but more of a potential "F". Yet, either way. If the combo of those 3 even develop then Zach seems redundant unless we move one of em.

Needless to say we are also playing Houstan or is it Okeke at SG currently......

My biggest fear of trading with atl for dejounte is them wanting Suggs in the deal.

If we want to be, I do not see why we wouldn't be. We have a lot of assets to get him, but are we willing to make such a move...who knows.

Me personally, not in a rush to make a big trade, but if it makes sense, sure.

If Atlanta doesn't want a 3 pick package and prefers more win-now players:

Orl get:
Dejounte Murray
Patty Mills
AJ Griffen
Moses Brown

Atl get:
WCJ
Brogdon
24 Orl 1st (lotto protected)

Portland gets:
Fultz
Harris
25 Den 1st

Mills, Griffen, and Brown were added just to match money

Thoughts? Seems a bit much but we're desperate for a guard.

LaVine is off the books before Paolo is making 40+ though.

Franz will be getting paid and same with Suggs, Paolo will be making 20 million his last year. It's going to be very tight but I guess you are right.

We are in the discussion because we have a desperate need at guard and have all the ammo the Hawks are (supposedly) after: someone who has multiple firsts and cap space to take on contracts. We arguably have as much to offer in that respect as anyone and are closer to competing than the Spurs of the world.

The worst case scenario is the Magic told Black to be patient while they cleared space for him on the roster so they aren’t even looking to upgrade the guard position. This would be a level of idiocy and penny pinching that would be revolting.

if Orlando is giving multiple picks, then we shouldnt have to take on other contracts.

TOR gets: Wendell Carter Jr / $26M in Expirings - Fultz & Harris / ORL 1st / DEN 1st
ORL gets: Jakob Poeltl / Gary Trent Jr / Dennis Schroder

PG Immanuel Quickly / Markelle Fultz / Kira Lewis
SG Grady Dick / Gary Harris / Bruce Brown
SF RJ Barrett / Jordan Nwora / Otto Porter
PF Scottie Barnes / Chris Boucher / Jalen McDaniels
C Wendell Carter Jr / Thad Young

TOR gets 4 years younger and more athletic at C with WCj. They clear $26M in cap space. They get our 1st and Denver's 1st to boost their depth in the draft. Departure of Trent opens the door for Grady Dick to emerge.

PG Dennis Schroder / Anthony Black / Cole Anthony
SG Gary Trent Jr / Jalen Suggs
SF Franz Wagner / Jett Howard / Caleb Houstan
PF Paolo Banchero / Jonathan Isaac / Chuma Okeke
C Jakob Poeltl / Goga Bitaze / Mo Wagner

ORL makes a move to get veteran help. Poeltl gives them a low post defender who is unselfish on offense (which helps balance the scoring focus compared to the touches that WCj demanded). Gary Trent Jr finally gives the Magic CONSISTENT long range shooting. Magic extend GTj in the offseason. Schoder becomes a welcomed countryman for the Wagners. Chemistry will be instant and he gives the Magic a vet to steady the inconsistency from the position. At 30, Schoder can naturally be a mentor for Black & Anthony.

This is a solid trade, but I cannot understand your resultant depth chart.

I would see the result as:
Suggs/Anthony
Trent/Schröder
F-Wagner/Ingles
Banchero/Isaac
Bitadze/M-Wagner

And a really strong deep bench in Black, Houstan and Pöltl.

I would not give two firsts up for that haul. Decent players but feel like there's better players out there to give up expirings + WCJ contract (which is a good one) + 2 1sts for.

In terms of prices, I think Zach Lowe said Tyus Jones wouldn't go for a first-round pick but rather 2 second-rounders or 3 or 4 of them. This is kind of appealing to me.

I think Zach and Bill Simons also agreed that LaVine can be had for nothing more than a matching salary but I've seen speculation elsewhere that Chicago will have to include picks too.

Also, I've long been thinking about whether our logjam at C/PF might result in a trade with OKC. They're pretty thin on bigs but they sure do have players we'd be interested in
