He has every red flag you don’t want in a guy that turns 30 next season and is locked into a monster deal.
- lowest PPG, FG%, 3PT%, APG since the 2017 season
- Injury prone
- The bulls have a winning record without him this season
- 10 season in the NBA.. has only played in the playoffs once
- No commitment to defense, questionable BBIQ
AAV of 43 mill until 2027..
This is the kind of desperate last ditch attempt move the LeLakers need to make.. not the magic
I'm not saying I'd absolutely do it ( that contract makes me lean no) but as weird as it sounds, I think he'd be a different player with us. Our style of play would reel him in to take better shots then he takes currently. Also because we are a defensive focused team I think he at least would give effort. Hes long and athletic enough to be solid on defense. Look at Cole. People rag on his defense, but you can't deny the effort he gives on most nights. Putting him on the floor with Paolo and Franz just fits perfectly and would spread the floor well cause you dont want to leave Lavine. He attacks closeouts really well too. It would work IMO. The only way Id be ok with it is it a cap manager could break down to me that his contract would not affect us resigning our core and the Bulls would have to trade him to us for basically nothing but cap relief. I'm not giving them value when we are taking the risk.
